I have enjoyed helping people with stress, anxiety, depression, abuse (emotional, physical, sexual), addiction/alcoholism in the family, couples, self-esteem, dissociation, and attachment issues. I offer EVIDENCE BASED PSYCHOTHERAPY to individuals, couples and groups as a licensed psychotherapist since1991. Expertise: INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS Therapy (IFS), PHASE ORIENTED TRAMA TREATMENT, EMDR, 12 STEP work. My border collie, Maya works with me. She can be a source of comfort and kindness. I would be happy to speak with you. Outside of work, I am a mom and wife; artist and gardener; meditator, and do my own psychotherapy.

The therapist might be the professional, but you are the expert on yourself! While working with clients my approach focuses on helping them identify their core needs and fears, addressing them from a place of compassion and curiosity. Sometimes it’s necessary to unlearn things which we have made a part of our identity. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

In our relationship as counselor and client, we can process unmet needs, the feelings that lie beneath, and patterns in relationships. Together, we can explore new ways of being and un-learn the defense mechanisms you needed to survive but are no longer serving you well. With this new awareness, ownership of your experiences and needs, and self compassion comes agency, change, and healing.

I am particularly interested in developing goals with you, and/or your child, that are relevant to your current situation that can help you and/or your child move forward in an effective and healthy manner. I have experience with treating interpersonal relationship problems, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, family of origin issues, and grief and loss. I work with children, adolescents, adults with developmental disabilities, and young adults in a therapeutic environment.

Mike (he/his) has worked primarily with at-risk adolescents and young adults for over 10 years across a variety of settings. These have included wilderness, residential, and alternative school programs; local/international community outreach; and a secure rehab facility. He believes that many mental health challenges are rooted in adverse experiences and focuses his therapy with a trauma-informed lens. Utilizing a strong therapeutic relationship, Mike’s work is based in psychodynamic and existential theories which allow his clients to connect the dots between the past and the present, and cultivate a more intentional future.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in practice for over 20 years. My practice is dedicated to both psychotherapy and neurofeedback. My psychotherapy background is psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral. The blending of these approaches allows me to tailor individual treatment in a way that is designed to address specific needs. I meet people where they are as they come into therapy, help them get symptom relief by working to address cognitive and behavioral issues that are preventing them from leading their most satisfying life, while looking to foster insight and healing from the patterns that caused symptoms in the first place.

My style is non-directive, strengths-based, warm, and creative, with strong influences from attachment theory, relational theory, and liberation psychology. I specialize in issues related to gender and identity development and affirmation, intersections of identity, emotion regulation, attachment, and trauma, including systemic and intergenerational traumas, as well as LGBQIA+ and transgender related stressors.

I have personally experienced the healing and growth that comes from using clinical hypnotherapy within a supportive therapeutic milieu. I find the accelerated, effective results from clinical hypnosis very impressive and enjoy helping others heal and actualize change with this powerful technique. I approach counseling from a client-centered perspective, meet people where they are at, and help them get to where they want to be without judgement or pressure.

I am always honored to be a part of each client’s change process. Our collaborative work will focus on your hopes, goals, and the tools you already have to help you achieve them. We will identify unhelpful thoughts and patterns and work to restructure them to your benefit.

Change is possible. Sometimes it comes from acceptance strategies and sometime from change strategies. I utilize many mind-body techniques including Trauma Releasing Exercises®, Chinese Medicine, EMDR, and Emmett Techniques to help change happen. Sometimes it takes more than talk. Sometimes the hardest part is starting.

My passion comes from helping people move past the losses and traumas of their past and into a rich and full life. Trauma and the losses we experience in life can wound us on every level - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. My desire is to see you pick up the pieces and create a beautiful life beyond the struggle of grief, anxiety, postpartum difficulties, infertility, disordered eating, childhood abuse, and other painful life events. My approach is one of compassion, honesty, and a little bit of sass - to help you rediscover a life of passion, beauty, joy, fulfillment, and empowerment.

This includes family work in support of the individual work, but I do not do ongoing family or couples therapy. I have experience working with a broad range of patients but most of my experience is with difficulties associated with depression, anxiety, trauma (PTSD), problems with expression of anger, and teen/parent conflicts.

This means helping people untangle their thoughts, pressures and feelings, while collaboratively devising plans aimed at learning to manage and alleviate whatever symptoms are causing distress.
