I provide individual and family therapy to individuals who are looking for help to cope with life's various twists and turns. I utilize an organic approach to gain an understanding of your specific life situations and stressors that are contributing to your current feelings. I use positive affirmations, strength identification and skill building to encourage you to reach your personal goals. We will work quickly to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms while we learn to identify triggers that may cause these feelings in order to focus on making long term changes that will help you to move forward through life.

My approach to psychotherapy is based on attachment theory which states that our first important relationships (namely, with our parents) influence how we relate to those closest to us now. As infants, we learn to do whatever is necessary, including distorting our thoughts and feelings, in order to maintain that connection. This early experience even affects brain development setting the stage for depression, anxiety and dysregulation. Fortunately, current relationships (including with a therapist) can provide a corrective experience. That is the beauty of psychotherapy - by understanding how our past affects our present we are better able to negotiate our future.

I believe that therapy is a journey that takes place in a safe and collaborative space between therapist and client. I have worked with diverse populations and people of all ages ranging from 4-74 years old while working in community mental health. My clinical experience also includes treating children and adolescents with trauma and severe emotional and behavioral issues at two residential schools. I currently focus on children, teens/adolescents, families, and adults. I enjoy working with (and working alongside) athletes, taking a sports psychology approach. I also have a strong history of working well with clients who have not responded/had difficulty engaging in traditional therapy.
