While I am a nationally certified trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist, I also incorporate and have completed trainings in the following areas: brainspotting, shame-resilience, and attachment.
The hardest part about therapy is having to deal with those thoughts, feelings, and memories we've been pushing aside for so long. What makes it even harder, are our fears of being judged for who we are, what we've gone through, or how we've acted. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being your true self. I do this by showing you genuine compassion, empathy, and understanding as we work through the tougher stuff. As such, I work with children, teens, families, and adults whose social, academic/work, behavioral, physical, and/or emotional well-being has been negatively impacted by ongoing mental health struggles.

Using a person-centered, holistic approach, I've helped survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional trauma, PTSD, individuals struggling with identity issues, anxiety, depression, marginalization, and career challenges.
Bodhi: "Awakening" or "enlightenment" . Humans have an innate need for connection. We long to be acknowledged, accepted, and understood. Often, however, we move through life unsure of who we really are and how to form genuine connections with others. We shape-shift to fit the mold of others' expectations which can lead to feelings of fear, resentment, and anger. This disconnect can cause interpersonal conflict and impact our families, friendships, and careers. Sometimes it feels as if we stumble through life with no direction. What would it mean to have a sense of awakening to oneself? to be enlightened to the authentic you?

I have many years of experience working with children, families, and adults through various life stressors, more specifically, interpersonal trauma like sexual abuse.
As a therapist, I believe that everyone has the power to move towards healing and growth. I provide a client centered approach and strongly believe in the therapeutic relationship to help guide the work at your own pace. For my youngest clients, I value play as a form of communication to share thoughts and feelings about the world. I offer space to process all of the thoughts and emotions that come along throughout life and hope that my clients leave therapy with a better understanding of themselves.

My training has equipped me to provide holistic, trauma sensitive, individualized care.
I will engage your child or adolescent in services that are fit to their unique individual mental health needs. Addressing therapy through a person-centered approach allows our therapeutic journey to focus on the strengths that your child brings to session. We will use those strengths to enhance the areas of growth and change. I firmly believe that therapy is a joint relational effort, that together we can help you identify significant areas of your story that need special attention and together we can begin the process of integrating those experiences in to your life, allowing the soul to BE.

Trauma is defined as "a deeply distressing or disturbing experience". Traumatic events are life changing. Living with constant fear and anxiety as a result can be debilitating; making it difficult to connect with others and navigate the world around us. I specialize in treating child and adolescent trauma as well as individuals and families. Early on in my career I worked with high profile trauma cases. This, paired with my experience working in the school setting and my deep curiosity of neuroscience has given me a unique set of clinical skills.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
