Serenity is focused on bringing evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches into sessions with clients, and working with clients to find out what works best for them.
Client problems come in all shapes and sizes, with all kinds of different life experiences and reasons and needs. Problems are common in the world, and it is hard to shoulder the responsibilities set on our shoulders. It can feel lonely with the burden that people carry, and it seems reasonable to find ways to meet needs that are not being met. Sometimes these can be unhealthy habits that just cause more problems. Sometimes, it leads to a build up of pressure until everything is overwhelming and out of control. It disrupts our Serenity, and building this back up sometimes needs a helper.

Are you serious about change? Change is often different than managing symptoms such as anxiety and depression. Symptoms let us know there is an issue but getting to the root is vital for long term success and change. Regulating your emotions, having good relationships, understanding your patterns and self, processing trauma, and understanding what pulls you forward in life is crucial to living a fulfilled and purposeful life. I love to work with curious and motivated clients looking to change and understand their human experience.

My goal for therapy is to provide women with a safe and confidential space to talk about hard things, reduce stress, heal from trauma, and discover inner strength.
The stress of being a woman in today’s society is significantly overlooked. We’re expected to excel in school, have full-time careers, raise a family, keep the house clean and the pantry stocked, make homecooked meals, keep up with society’s ever-changing standard of “beauty,” exercise and eat healthy, maintain a close group of friends, and have strong relationships with our partners. We do all this while battling intrusive thoughts of perfectionism, low-self worth, poor body image, and never-ending guilt. Even when we feel like we’re drowning and there’s nothing left of us to give, we continue to put other's first.

I specialize in eating disorders, neurodiversity, trauma, disconnection from your authentic self, and difficult life transitions.
When we struggle in life so many of us spend time blaming and shaming ourselves for “not doing better”. In society we've been taught to disconnect from our authentic selves and our bodies. Overtime this can cause us to feel lost, overwhelmed, and detached. As a neurodivergent-affirming therapist my focus is to help you reclaim those lost parts, integrate them, and regain self-trust through your own intuitive abilities. It may not feel like it now, but you are the wisest teacher in your life and I'm honored to assist you in believing so.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
