I have experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, LGBT issues, professional and personal identity, transition, relationship issues, substance abuse, veterans issues, and grief and loss.
During our lives, we encounter experiences that can move us away from a direct connection to ourselves. Influences from family, friends, peers, jobs, and the greater culture can affect how we view and express ourselves. We can become conditioned to thinking, feeling and behaving in a way that is incompatible with who we really are and what we want in our lives. This compromises our ability to value our unique identity and to express and apply ourselves, and our strengths. I will help you to identify, understand and remove barriers that are keeping you from realizing your fullest potential. I offer Telehealth only in California.

Your uncomfortable symptoms may be what send you to therapy, but they can also serve you. You may feel overwhelmed or confused, and yet this is also an invitation for hope, curiosity, insight, and self-compassion. It is an opportunity to be able to access some of the deepest realms of yourself, to heal, and to move forward with greater confidence in your life. I work with individuals of all ages, and provide support for people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, adoption, trauma, body image and eating disorders, life transitions, individuation, co-dependence, overall work and family stress, and multicultural issues.

I teach and consult to other clinicians about the effect of trauma, and have a pretty good track record working with people who deal with flashbacks, anxiety, and dissociation.
In my experience, things can start getting better fast, long before the problem is solved. Rated in the top 1% of psychotherapists on LinkedIn, I'm warm, practical, experienced & hard-working. I'll help you tackle problems related to trauma, difficult childhoods, bad bosses, relationships of all sorts that just don't work well, and the distress of having repeated disappointments in life. I'm interested in helping make real change, and not just developing interesting insights (although they can be useful too.)

I recognize the significant impact of trauma on adults, children, and families. My passion is supporting parents, children, and families not only in their present healing. I aim to give insight into their own struggles to heal the inter-generational trauma and heal future generations. It stops with you. Systemic therapy looks at not just about the individual, but their family, community, the larger societal values and how that power, privilege, and inequity impacts the person in the therapy room with me.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, master’s level Nutritionist and EMDR practitioner. I offer integrative therapy for eating disorders, food and body related issues, anxiety and trauma. Integrative therapy is a holistic approach to counseling that very much includes the body, beyond traditional talk therapy. It is a unique, blended approach that fosters change on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. I use EMDR as an embodied approach to re-wire new habits and let go of guilt, shame, fear and negative subconscious beliefs.

I specialize in trauma and creative art therapies.
I am an artist/poet turned therapist. My method is to slowly build a therapeutic relationship, uncover strengths, and move toward client-identified treatment goals. I support clients to externalize problematic narratives or inner states they are stuck in through creative mediums. Once clients are resourced and can see, and then interact with their patterns and parts they make changes. Together we discover and incorporate parts of the self that had to go underground due to trauma or oppression. Clients emerge from their work, whole and empowered.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
