My experience as an educator has deepened my understanding of what trauma-informed, safe, inclusive counseling should look like.
Feeling stuck is a part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to figure it out by yourself. There are many pieces that play a part in being in a tough place that make each situation different. I am experienced in working with many issues including depression, relationship issues, anxiety, and traumatic stress. I am passionate about women’s issues, cultural diversity, and am LGBTQ+ affirmative. Life gets really difficult sometimes - you are stronger and more resilient than you think.

I specialize in treating "big T" and "little t" traumas, early childhood trauma, relational trauma, developmental trauma, attachment trauma, and dissociation.
I have a passion for treating trauma and I love doing deep work with people. If you are interested in treating the cause of your symptoms and not just managing or coping with them, then I'm your person. Enjoy the shift to a calmer inside and better relationships with yourself and others. This translates to a higher self-esteem and that will have a domino effect on improving all your relationships as well as decreasing depression and anxiety. You might be surprised how much trauma is responsible for how we feel about ourselves and how we live our lives. Let's clean out the emotional closets!

It is my honor to give therapy and counsel to people who carry a heavy load, especially to individuals with trauma and couples.
What would life be like if you could spend more time doing what really matters instead of just making it through the day and surviving? Have you experienced hard things in your past that still affect you today, and you wish that would change? Do you feel that sharp twinge in your chest when you think about just how far away you are from the relationships you want? If you have ever struggled with motivation, meaning, a difficult childhood, or a relationship that has lost its fire and hope, you understand how painful and gray the world can be when life isn't working.

It's normal to feel disconnected, lonely, and anxious. It is brave to seek counseling now, whether you are dealing with ongoing problems, new stressors, or just deciding that now is the time to heal. I believe that the relationship between client and counselor is the most important factor in how successful counseling will be. I want you to feel comfortable sharing details of your life with me so that we can move toward change together.

Some of my approaches include: mindfulness/contemplative practices, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (parts work), somatic awareness, movement and experiential approaches.
Thank you for taking a step towards exploring yourself, cultivating more internal awareness, and identifying areas in your life where you seek healing and strive for growth. I can offer guidance during this sometimes intense and hopefully enlightening process. Being in therapy may bring challenging emotions to the surface. How comfortable are you in facing the past, present or emotions such as sadness, guilt, shame, anger, jealousy? Therapy can be a very co-creative process between us—the work stems from your intent, openness and motivation to witness yourself objectively, see patterns and start shifting those patterns.

I help my clients let go of the pain from anxiety, depression, and trauma that may seem impossible to overcome as people of color in environments that aren't supportive.
If you find yourself preparing and bracing for that offensive comment; you regulate your speech, dress, and actions to fit in or be safe; or you navigate how much of your experiences to share for fear that you won’t be heard, or that your story will show different your reality is from others—then I want you to know that you’re not crazy, and you don’t have to go it alone. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who knows what it’s like to be immersed in spaces that don’t culturally or racially reflect me, my identity, or my values. And to live in spaces that reject me as I live into my full identity as a black man, a person of color.
