My ideal client is someone ready to go beyond just talking about problems, and instead, dive deep within themselves to heal. In my 12 years of clinical practice, I have observed that true and lasting healing must involve the mind. body, and soul. As a Yoga Therapy Teacher-in-Training, I believe that somatic work is crucial to deeper healing. I also emphasize the importance of meditation, mindfulness, and spirituality. In my office or virtually, I offer a safe space, an empathic heart, and a variety of brain-based, trauma-centered modalities.

I am continually amazed at the capacity of the human spirit. So I see my role as helping you access your inner resources to move toward wholeness and health. I work with clients who are depressed, anxious, facing relationship challenges, struggling with intense emotions, and trauma survivors.

My treatments focuses on building a therapeutic alliance between counselor and individuals. I support individuals as they identify their goals for treatment and take steps towards reaching those goals. Along with using evidence-based practices, I feel the family unit plays a big role in Mental Health and it is importance to build healthy family relationships. Much of my work has been focused on working with youth and helping them process trauma through the use of Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT).

I offer services for individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, and trauma, working to build upon established strengths.
I strongly believe in being authentic, honest, and real with my clients. I believe in meeting people where they are, and finding ways to help them get to where they want to be. Many have found their counselor to not fully understand them, or not challenge them. I connect with others by finding common ground, letting others' passions shine through, and creating moments of real, genuine care for one another. This includes challenging people to reach goals when they struggle with motivation. Those that I serve have a variety of real, valid problems. I utilize my role as a stepping stone in a person's path to better health.

As a former preschool teacher and yoga instructor, I place a heavy emphasis on play and mindfulness in my work to help clients learn, work through trauma, and uncover their feelings.
We often find ourselves seeking help when something is wrong, but I work with families and children to help them see what is right. I believe that humans are fundamentally creative, innovative, compassionate, and fully capable of accessing their joy. The therapeutic process is not one size fits all, nor will it be successful when the therapist calls all of the shots. My clients are the experts, and I work collaboratively to find the best approach to achieve growth.

Here’s the truth about life: it is uncomfortable. It is uncomfortable, tough, chaotic and, sometimes, we lose ourselves in it. Life is full of emotions that can be overwhelming and confusing, but once understood, can be transformative. If you want a therapist to help guide you towards your emotional, mental and physical goals - while also meeting you where you’re at without judgment - then I am likely a good fit for you. In my sessions, you’ll find a compassionate, safe, space where you will be gently challenged to discover, learn and grow. I often work with adults struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief, conflict and sexuality.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
