My specialties include: eating disorders, OCD, trauma, depression, anxiety, and faith transitions.
Many of us struggle with our mental health. Some of us have depression, others struggle with anxiety, many suffer with other diagnoses. For most us, there is deep seated trauma humming like a background undercurrent in our lives. These situations make it difficult to feel like you are living the life you want to live. It can be overwhelming, discouraging, and frustrating. I am here to help you make the transition to living a fuller life, find healing, and meet your goals. Our collaboration will be based on honesty, respect, compassion, and kindness.

Life happens to all of us and sometimes we need additional support. I want to be that support! Trauma isn't always from a big event, it can be a car accident, an incident at work, an unexpected loss or change. What is seen as trauma for one person might not be traumatic for another. Most of us have experienced trauma and since it isn't the same for everyone, I like to take a personalized approach. You are the expert in your life, so I want to work with you to create the best treatment plan for you to heal and move forward. There is strength in healing, but even more when you are not alone. It can be life changing and so worth it!

It has been my privilege to work with individuals experiencing pornography and sex addictions, as well as their partners who have found themselves drowning in the middle of betrayal trauma.
Disclaimer: I am licensed in four states, therefore I'm unable to see everyone in person. I reside in Utah and consequently, I see others using telehealth. Even though I see people online, a connection is still possible. Try it, it may surprise you! Sometimes life is messy; it can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate on your own. That's why I do what I do! In a caring and compassionate way, I help you identify and overcome barriers to your happiness and well-being. Working together, we can explore effective ways to manage the complexities of life and develop coping strategies to better enable you to "enjoy the journey."

I specialize in PTSD, Complex Trauma, Dissociation, Grief, Substance Abuse/Addiction, Anxiety & Depression.
Healing is a process. It is not something that happens immediately or overnight. Think about how long it took to become wounded. Think about how your body heals from an illness or injury. It is a process of healing, and depending on the complexity of the issue or issues, depends on how long the healing process will take. The same way are bodies are designed for healing, emotionally and mentally we are designed for healing as well. We can support the healing process by resting, taking care of ourselves, and being patient. Healing is not necessarily an easy process but well worth the effort. And you are not alone.

As your therapist, I want to know the parts of you that life may have taught you to hide—the sadness, the anger, the trauma, the loneliness.
What do you notice in the quiet moments of your life? It might be self-criticism, guilt, or shame. Maybe you get stuck in the past, trying to figure out what went wrong, or preparing for every possible future scenario. For some people, there are no quiet moments, and for others, every second feels like deafening silence, even in a crowded room. Superficial interactions leave us feeling unseen, ignored, and alone. You deserve a time and space to be fully present and authentic without fear of judgment, dismissal, or empty platitudes.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
