In my opinion, EMDR is, by far the most revolutionary modality available to treat trauma and limiting beliefs.
I support the development of each individual's inner guidance and direction. My years of experience working with substance and behavior addictions have created a strong foundation which supports lasting healthy recovery. I accomplish this by utilizing my training in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy & Gottman's Sound Relationship House. I have found great success with those who have otherwise lost hope. My approach is free of judgment and remains deeply empathetic. I am a genuine clinician who is uniquely proficient in reaching through to the seemingly unreachable.

I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with the after-effects of chronic trauma throughout childhood. This can mean high levels of emotional reactivity, intrusive memories of difficult past events, and difficulties in obtaining and maintaining important interpersonal relationships. My ideal client is looking for ways to feel safe and secure in the world and to, as Dr. Marsha Linehan would say, "build a life worth living." I also feel confident working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety and other interpersonal issues.

I work with individuals facing challenges with depression, anxiety, trauma, shame, and interpersonal relationships.
As a fellow human being I have come to understand that the human experience is HARD. My guess is that you can relate. As someone who sought professional help in my adolescent years, I learned that I don't have to endure the hardship alone. You don't have to navigate your challenges alone either. My personal experiences with therapy helped me to regain a much needed sense of hope and allowed me to recognize the potential that we ALL carry. My past has inspired me to act as a support to others experiencing the heavy realities of depression, anxiety, trauma, and shame.

While there are countless reasons people seek therapy, the common theme being addressed is trauma.
I aim to support women who are ready to are ready to live life on their terms. Clients come to me with a goal to feel peace and purpose. Most of the people I see are fed up with trying to please everyone else and don't know how to recognize, let alone meet, their own needs. They are ready to figure out who they are and what they genuinely want. In order to do this they need a neutral, supportive person to hear them out without forcing an outside agenda. They want to feel validated, understood, and empowered to create a life they can be proud of and surround themselves with people who accept them as they are.

Life is an interesting mixture of both ups and downs. Having the courage to ask for help with difficult situations should not be an unpleasant process in and of itself. The process of learning and growing should be filled with encouragement and increased happiness, even when discussing difficult topics. In my 25+ years of experience, I have helped people with a variety of obstacles including, marital/couples strife, parent/child conflict, adoption and attachment issues, grief and trauma related difficulties, substance use problems, child/adolescent behavioral issues, school/educational planning, and mental health diagnoses.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
