Our work together can cover a myriad of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, faith struggles, life transitions, perfectionism, and trauma.
Reaching out for help requires vulnerability and courage. To honor that, I both (1) strive to foster a nonjudgmental, collaborative atmosphere where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace and (2) ensure that our work together is grounded in empirical evidence. I consider it a privilege to hear about people’s lives and be a part of their journeys. I have witnessed the significant pain that attends mental health issues and so have a great deal of compassion for individuals who are struggling. I firmly believe that people can find more peace and meaning in their lives and move toward their aspirations.

I know there is no single approach that is the right one for every individual, and so I have training in a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), DBT-Prolong exposure, Motivational Interviewing, and done with trauma informed approaches.
I believe that there is hope for a bigger and brighter future through motivating, empowering, and educating. My journey to becoming a therapist began when I found myself a passerby in my life and not loving the life I was living. This was when I discovered my passion for helping others to once again find love for life, empowerment, and purpose by using your own personal strengths, past experiences, and desire for change.

I am accepting new clients and offer Online Counseling via Telehealth. I've provided over 10,000 hours of therapy and like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I managed LDS Family Services for 13 years and loved directing the 12-step Addiction Recovery Program in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. I've been recruited by multiple residential treatment centers, a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and by an IOP program assessing and treating substance abuse and domestic violence.

I am passionate about working with trauma, faith crises or transitions, addiction, relationships, anxiety and depression, self-esteem and confidence issues.
Hi there, my name is Candi. One of my favorite quotes about life is by James Baldwin, which says, “Not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Life is too short to let trauma control us, to be anxious, depressed or angry all the time or to struggle alone in relationships. Therapy may not be the most comfortable experience, but it can be life changing. I want you to be able to find meaning and purpose and work through emotional pain so that your self-worth, relationships and other areas of life thrive.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
