I help women unravel the complexities of anxiety, depression, and trauma in this busy, modern world. Does it seem like you’re not living your true potential? Almost like things are holding you back from being the true, authentic, full version of yourself. Life is too short to live that way. You deserve to heal yourself. You deserve to live a full, brilliant life without being bound by the pressures of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have created a safe, non-judgmental approach that prioritizes your needs and wants. I understand the amount of courage it takes to seek therapy and I honor your bravery.

Since 2010, I have had the opportunity to help adults and children cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship problems and other disorders/disabilities.
Stop hurting. Sometimes, we hurt so much and for so long that we forget how true happiness feels like. We all try to navigate life the best that we can. We all try to find that glimpse of hope every morning. Yet, sometimes it just feels impossible to know exactly what we are holding on to. This is where I can help.

It's difficult to know where to turn when you're trying to make sense of life's challenges. Reaching out for help is an important step toward hope and healing. Therapy can help if you're experiencing conflict, distress, or disconnect in your relationships. You can work through hurtful events and experiences, both past and present, that are disrupting your life.

Clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, boundary or relationship issues, or those in recovery will find Best Practice Counseling to be a safe, gentle landing place to wade through these issues and find solutions together.
Clients who come in ready to work on themselves are leaps and bounds ahead of clients who might be dragging their feet in coming to therapy. If you are ready to change and personally motivated, your progress will be quick and you will get a lot out of the therapeutic process. Brief, solution focused therapy is often the most helpful depending on the client, but my intention is always to start where each individual client is at and work to assist them in their goals and desires for change based on their own strengths.

I will often use IFS with EMDR which gives a client space between them and their trauma and makes it easier for them to progress.
Therapy is a safe place to allow yourself to feel and gain insight to your life and your personal journey. It is a place to work through limiting beliefs and negative behavioral patterns that stop us from progressing toward the life we dream of. In Therapy, we work on long and short-term goals, help you build deeper relationships, and strengthen communication in all areas of your life. Together, we will identify your strengths and use them to address challenging areas in your life. This leads to change and growth which promotes healing.

Stress, self-doubt, and worry can be difficult enough to manage on our own when things are "normal," but when you add the impact of the recent events our society is dealing with they can seem overwhelming. Whether a teenager or an adult, stress and trauma can make us question who we are and what's important to us. Negative emotions and thoughts get in the way of our relationships with other people and make us feel like we aren't able to be the person we want to be. Therapy can be a wonderful tool to help you make changes which bring more control and confidence in to your life.

I have over 20 years experience working and growing with the continually developing mental health field. I believe in the immovable strength that all people have within them. Trauma, pain, and disheartenment are all part of the human experience. We are all connected by these experiences, and our abilities to overcome life’s greatest challenges. Therapy is not a "one size fits all" approach and I believe strongly in my ability to work with the diversity of mental health issues.

I received my BS in Psychology from BYU-Hawaii, and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver with an emphasis in Mental Health and Trauma.
I believe that each one of us have immense power and potential within us. I know that the road to unlocking this power, however, can often be a bumpy one. It is my great honor to assist my clients as they navigate through their unique experiences. My hope is that they can discover how to live their lives to the fullest and embrace their strengths and grow from their challenges. I have great respect for my client’s individuality and beliefs. I am deeply empathic and gentle in my approach but will challenge my clients and hold them accountable if that’s what they need from me.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
