Specializing in trauma of all kinds, I have an approach that first prioritizes teaching you how to manage the sensations and symptoms held in your body.
Do you identify as a 'people pleaser?' Do you have a career that requires your ‘mind over matter’ skills to put your own needs aside to help others? Maybe you can usually ‘keep it all together’ but when you unravel it feels like you’re losing control. Seeking answers can be challenging; after all, you’re the helper not the one that needs help, right? The truth is you are worthy of care as well, and I am so proud you are here and I am honored by your curiosity.

Empathic, trauma-informed care that focuses on finding meaning and new stories where the pain once stood nameless.
Crazy right? You're used to being the one everyone goes to with their problems. The one who runs INTO danger, not away from it. But the one thing you can't outrun is yourself. And when we come home from being the Hero, the Strong One, the One Who Has It Together... we crash. My usual clients are just like you; the curse-breakers, the ones who fight and have fought for others, the ones who aren't afraid of anything - except facing our own demons.

Our lives are more complicated today than ever before. We are pulled in so many different directions - work, home, children who are dealing with lockdowns and bullying, and financial insecurity to name a few. And those emotions! They begin to overwhelm and contribute to heightened anxiety, depression, trauma, and exhaustion. Having someone to talk with and process thoughts and emotions helps - being able to learn to recognize unhealthy coping skills and replace with positive coping skills becomes a healing process. I am honored when someone invites me into their lives in this deeply personal way.

I have experience with complex diagnosis, trauma, depression, anxiety, relational conflict, and adjustment/life transition issues.
Life can be difficult, and each of us has unique experience and circumstance. Although the past informs the present, it doesn’t have to control the future. The counseling approach I use pulls from a humanistic perspective and believes that we have the inherent power within ourselves to move towards holistic wellbeing.

My passion lies in trauma work with adolescents and adults.
How often do you find yourself saying "I’m fine?" Are you in a career field that requires you to be "on" all the time? Does reaching out for help feel shameful or equals weakness? Maybe you can’t share what goes on in your day-to-day because you see and hear the worst of it. You don’t enjoy the activities you once did and snap with irritation at the slightest request. Perhaps you've survived the unimaginable, but now you really want to live. I imagine it took a significant amount of courage to get to this point. I'll honor your bravery in reaching out and give you the tools to be an active participant in your life.

I am a trauma informed Solution Focused therapist.
My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you.

Life is a journey that you must navigate to the best of your ability. Sometimes a chosen path doesn't lead you to where you had hoped it would, which can cause difficult emotions to arise. Past trauma, grief or depression may have brought you here to seek help. I would like for you to know that you have made a very brave decision.

I have extensive experience working with teens, adults, senior adults, couples, and families with: depression, anxiety, anger, grief, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, trauma, those who are chronically self-critical, insecure, and questions of purpose and meaning.
No matter how "together" you may appear on the outside, when you are hurting on the inside, life can feel overwhelming. I understand how challenging stubborn and worn-out old patterns and dynamics can be. I always seek to create a warm, down-to-earth, and nurturing environment where you can feel safe and protected. I meet you where you are in your life. You are the expert of your story and we go at your pace. There is no judgment or expectation for you to talk or perform. This is your journey toward greater self-awareness, growth and healing.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
