I specialize in trauma and interpersonal violence, identity development, life transitions, mood disorders, and psychological/neuropsychological assessment.
I believe psychotherapy should be a transformational experience. We often get stuck in patterns of relating and being that, at one time, were adaptive and protective, but no longer help us to be our best selves. Psychotherapy helps to understand those patterns, develop strategies to disrupt them, and create new ways of being and relating that get us closer to our personal and professional goals.

I have significant experience in dual diagnosis treatment of adolescents, family therapy, and trauma.
Nothing in life is one size fits all; therapy is no exception. My first priority is to establish a trusting relationship with you, then together create goals tailored to your individual needs. As humans, we tend to shy away from uncomfortable, unwanted, or overwhelming feelings/thoughts. We all develop habits to cope; sometimes those habits may no longer be helpful. In a non-judgmental and safe environment, we will work together, unlock your potential and create the change you desire. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and fully trained in EMDR in Texas.

Trauma-informed therapy provides a supportive process for undoing the harm caused by past events. In therapy, I enjoy helping kids and adults try a new approach of care and healing that targets both emotional processing and regulating the nervous system. I partner with parents to help their child improve anxiety, process life transitions, and overcome various behavioral issues. With adults, I help with trauma healing, anxiety, and relational roadblocks such as people-pleasing, social anxiety and codependency. Other areas I focus on include family of origin issues, OCD, and abuse recovery. I've also had the unique opportunity to help families find their new normal after life-altering tragedies.

I am trained in evidence-based approaches including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) a therapy method used to treat anxiety, addiction, grief and loss, and PTSD.
My clients would describe me as competent, easy to talk to and compassionate. I am passionate about creating an environment where you can feel safe and heard. Carl Rogers once said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” I believe that therapeutic work is most helpful when you can sense that you are working with a therapist who genuinely cares and will listen. From that foundation, there will also be space for you to reflect and receive insight that will aid in meeting your goals.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
