I am passionate about helping clients challenge behaviors and beliefs associated with anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders.
I have a background in treating eating disorders, body image issues, and complex trauma, as well as anxiety and depression. Many of my clients are seeking space to unlearn harmful coping skills, explore identity, and heal relationships with the body and mind. Cultivating a nonjudgmental and empathetic space for my clients to show up authentically and practice vulnerability is central to my practice rooted in anti-oppressive ideologies including Fat Liberation and Disability Justice.

As a psychotherapist I strive to assist my clients in the process of becoming more whole in all aspects of their lives. My primary training is as an art therapist and I use an integrative approach to promote healing. I find that enhancing talk therapy with experiential methods gives my clients the freedom to express their deepest selves. Within the therapeutic relationship we can find the existing internal nuances and textures that make us all unique and valuable. My work includes seeing individual adults who have depression/anxiety, past trauma, addiction related issues and relationship challenges.

I hope you keep working to get the results you deserve. Life is worth living and it requires action steps. I have training in DBT and EMDR and certified in CPT for trauma. I specialize in working with adults and teens who need behavior change and/or trauma processing. These treatments are designed to help clients develop the skills to independently manage problematic behavior and thinking patterns (i.e. my job is to work myself out of a job).

Got trauma? Do you know the causes of your trauma but don’t know what to do about it? EMDR therapy helps you push back against negative cognitions you hold, like “I am defective.” “I am worthless.” “I am broken.” We will build resilience, self awareness, and inner strength. We will work together to find your voice! I work with children, teens, young adults, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to do this difficult work. Through our time together, in your private home or virtually, you will gain self-confidence to face whatever life throws your way with your own voice and strength.

Reaching out for support is the first step! Difficult friendships, periods of self-doubt, trauma, and major life changes often place people in situations were extra support is helpful. In these moments, we often want a sounding board, a nonjudgemental place, and most importantly to be seen and heard.

Through individual therapy and Somatic Experiencing, I will help you move from stress and disconnection towards a life with greater vitality, confidence, and capacity for intimacy. In sessions with me, you can engage in talk therapy, body (somatic) therapy, art therapy, or a combination of these modalities. This integrative framework for healing helps you notice your emotions and experiences with deeper curiosity, understanding, and compassion as you develop not just an intellectual awareness, but also a bodily awareness of how habit, reactivity, and trauma responses play out in your life.

I am a solution-focused therapist with CBT/DBT and trauma training looking at changing your mindset.
Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are. So who do you ultimately want to be? What is going on in your life to cause stress or strife? What can we change or take out to improve things? Are you communicating effectively with your adolescent or loved ones? Life can throw many different obstacles that cause stress, anxiety, depression, and a breakdown of relationships. One of the hardest relationships for parents or caregivers can be the one with their teenager. As a marriage and family therapist I take a look at your entire life and not just the person itself to facilitate change.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
