I specialize in working with high achieving individuals and athletes as well as those who struggle with anxiety, depression and trauma.
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed? Maybe you've been having thoughts of not being good enough or questioning your identity. You might be the kind of person who is used to having it all figured out and can usually manage things on your own, but lately it’s been feeling like too much to handle. Stress is starting to negatively impact your relationships, work and health. Trying to carry this weight can be emotionally and physically exhausting especially when you’re trying to do it alone. That’s where I come in.

I am experienced with and interested in many different types of clients, including adults with anxiety, trauma, depression, and other mood issues, children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, and trauma, individuals with relationship issues, and individuals identifying as LGBTQ+.

You are taking a courageous step forward in your healing process to make your first appointment! I am versed in a variety of empirically supported treatments such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT), and like to blend multiple approaches in the way that will bring about the best results for you.

I also specialize in PTSD and trauma related issues such as dissociation.
I work with individuals, couples and families who are dealing with problems which hinder them from growing in their personal life and their relationships. I use a non-judgmental systems approach to understand all the factors relevant to the issues you are facing. Then, to assist you, in finding the "best" path for your healing and growth. I am glad to offer non-denominational Christian based counseling to anyone who desires to work from that spiritual background. Although, I am happy to work with people of all thoughts and belief systems.

I am EMDR Certified & have completed 3 years of training with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
I believe in the innate capacity and sacred art of healing through connection- connection with others and connection within ourselves. I am passionate about providing a space that feels safe and soothing where you can feel seen and heard without judgment or feeling the need to say or do “the right thing.” My clients are often adults who have experienced trauma or are navigating concerns such as transitions into parenthood, depression, anxiety, or interpersonal issues. I utilize a combination of approaches to help process painful experiences, explore new coping strategies, and increase resources to help you heal.

I have been a licensed counselor for over fifteen years and I have been in the helping profession for nearly thirty-five years. Much of my experience is working with people who have experienced trauma, especially within relationships. I work best with individuals who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and issues of empowerment. I feel you are the expert concerning your life. Maybe you just need some help exploring that. My style is not to give advice, but rather to provide a safe environment and relationship where you can feel free to grow and transform.

I have specialized training in trauma and predominantly utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) or "parts work" in my therapeutic practice.
Two values I strive for in the therapy room are understanding and security. When you walk through my door, I want you to feel the kind of safety that allows you to get cozy on the sofa and take a deep breath before diving into what matters most to you. Throughout the process, my hope is that all parts of you - those you love and know well and those that you struggle with or push away in your daily life - feel welcome, seen, appreciated, and understood. My clients are primarily adult individuals who hope to find healing and connection within themselves and with others.

I believe that we all deserve support and at the core of personal transformation is a duality of self-compassion and desire for change. As humans we are intrinsically wired for connection, resiliency and healing. However, sometimes there are things from the past or other life stressors that cause us to feel stuck and that healing is out of our reach. I am deeply interested in the mind-body connection and believe reconnecting to our bodies can be incredibly transformational. I work with folks in adolescence and adulthood who are desiring to address trauma, optimal performance, depression, anxiety and life transitions.

It is natural to experience a range of emotions; some flooding us thoroughly, and others frozen at our core. Sometimes we all feel challenged by life itself. This is why it can be helpful to seek out a therapist. My counseling practice is focused on helping adults and teens who struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, and chronic stress. The foundation of my practice is layered. In order to effectively work together, I believe that it is important to understand your past, as it informs your present. Much of our resilience stems from our interactions with attachment figures—It is necessary to consider the context of our life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
