Our wounds, losses, and trauma can trap us in painful patterns of avoidance, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, and shame.
Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

If you are looking to heal from trauma, want to explore your spiritual side or needs skills to help cope with the world we live in, I would love to walk with you on your journey and offer whatever assistance I can to help you find peace.
I enjoy combining the Mind Body Soul connection in therapy to create balance in all areas. We often focus on our thoughts and actions and forget about our body and spiritual components. Being able to integrate all aspects of ourselves leads to greater healing especially if we have experienced trauma. Reconnection to the body is an important part of healing and learning to listen to what is is telling us. Spirituality is one aspect of therapy I enjoy most and helping others find their spiritual center along with aiding those who feel "highly sensitive" (empathic) in being able to function and thrive.

These are unprecedented times that challenge all of us. As humans, we perceive uncertainty as a threat, which can lead to anxiety or depression in otherwise healthy individuals. In my practice, my associates and I focus on attachment and trauma as root causes of anxiety and depression. We go beyond symptom relief to help our clients understand how they came to be anxious or depressed and what to do about it.

I am also trained in Trauma Counseling, and I can help clients move through traumatic memories by engaging in somatic expressive arts practices.
Do you feel alone in the world, like there is no one who understands? Do you wish you could find a clear path, but wonder what that would look like, or how to find it? I will work closely with you, helping you navigate the storms of life that can make one's path more challenging. I can help you reconnect to your inner guidance, so you can place your feet more solidly on the ground. I believe we all have the ability to tap into our own inner wisdom. If you feel your voice or intuitive knowing has been silenced, I will work with you to find it again. If you are searching for your calling, I will help you listen.

I specialize in trauma therapy and I am trained in EMDR for those who have survived a wide range of disturbing life events, traumas and stress.
I understand the courage it takes to delve into issues that feel uncomfortable and many times painful. I provide a welcoming, safe, private office to support healing and growth - where honesty is valued and not judged. I approach sessions with empathic listening, compassion, respect and genuine curiosity. My approach to our work together also includes asking questions, offering interpretations, providing psycho-education, skill building, encouragement, honesty and a splash of humor.

I have extensive experience working with Mood Disorders, Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, Mindfulness, Adjustment Disorders, and Personality Disorders.
I have over twenty years of experience working with people, 18-elders. I believe that therapy is an adventure, where one chooses to go, regardless of not knowing the way. Through the relationship this awareness is brought together by truth, compassion, humor, and some pain. The therapist serves as a guide, modeling and teaching the individual a more effective way of living. I see the individual as someone with a whole life that exists beyond the therapy session. The relationship, which fosters hope is a non-judgmental environment, that underlies all the work that is undertaken.

Along with traditional therapeutic models such as CBT, DBT, MI, and psychodynamics, I also have experience integrating additional concepts including trauma, self-esteem and compassion, healthy relationships, kink and poly-friendly, diet culture recovery / Health At Every Size, and spirituality.
I think that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a client you can expect to highlight your strengths, speak to your individual experience in a non-judgmental environment, receive unconditional support from someone you trust, and learn new ways to lessen your pain. Therapy is a wonderfully transformative venture, where two people collaborate on how to navigate the human experience. My approach is strengths-based, person-first, and multifaceted to meet your specific needs.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
