As a certified public health professional, my approach is unique in that it is informed personally by my engagement with the recovery community, academically by my background in public health, and professionally by my experience working with active duty military to treat trauma, loss, and addiction.
I work with clients seeking meaningful change. To recover authenticity, connection, and purpose back into life's experience. We work together to manage the impact of past events. More importantly, we find ways to transcend them in the present, building on character strengths to find life balance. Since working with my first client, my clinical approach has evolved to focus more on the mind-body connection. This dual approach is known as Somatic (experiential) therapy, and can often be more engaging than traditional talk therapy alone. Your recovery should be a highly individualized experience. Please visit my website for details!

Currently I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, addictions, and grief. While I have received training in a number of approaches, my goal is to offer you interventions and tools that best fit for you. I am most influenced by IFS, DBT, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, and Expressive Art Therapy. I look through the lens of trauma, and I take a behaviorally specific approach to support experiences of transformation into long term change and growth. Anxiety, trauma, feelings of worthlessness, depression and a host of other health and mental health challenges peel away at our ability to connect with others. It leaves us feeling alone, lost, powerless and hopeless. Studies have shown that the power of connection is an essential component to a long and meaningful life. So many times, our fears and thoughts that we are not enough, we will be rejected, and that we are invisible trap us in internal suffering. It can feel like we are watching life happen around us from behind a glass window, longing to join but with no way of breaking through.

I offer trauma informed talk therapy and creative/somatic therapies for creative thinkers.
It feels like nothing you do is good enough, sapping your energy and joy from life. The critical inner voice as at a volume 10, and things just don’t feel worth attempting to do anymore. You are worn out, and tired of repeating the same patterns. You feel alone.

I offer trauma-responsive somatic therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) for people of color.
You're looking to be understood in your experience. You struggle with questioning if you are the issue or if it's the world around you. You live and work in high-stress and demanding environments where you're underrepresented. You've begun to realize your old ways of coping aren't working the same anymore. You may have even tried standard talk therapy in the past - and while helpful - you still find yourself troubled by disturbing experiences or memories.

I enjoy helping people who struggle with developmental trauma, perfectionism, anger, substance (mis)use or addictive behaviors, OCD, anxiety struggles including agoraphobia/panic/generalized anxiety, depression, and shame.
Welcome! I'm glad you're here and seeking support - we all deserve it. I work with adult individuals, and also adult sibling pairs. My way of assisting in your process is to help you have a different and better relationship with yourself by truly getting to know all of you - yes, even the parts of you who scare or embarrass you. Together we can work toward a more integrated whole, where you can exist with yourself in harmony. The results tend to be less shame and self-criticism, less internal and external avoidance, more self-compassion, and more manageable moods and behaviors.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
