I specialize in trauma recovery, grief and loss, and have worked extensively in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as Narrative Therapy in Hospice.
Thank you for being here. I appreciate the vulnerability it takes to seek therapeutic care, and I value the trust placed in me. I'm committed to justice and healing, both personally and collectively, valuing anti-racism and mutual aid in my work. I create a warm, safe setting to help you to integrate grief, trauma, altered states, and the esoteric in your life; working towards peace- even in the storm, healing and joy. I practice from Relational-Cultural Feminist Theory. One of my strengths is in recognizing therapy and healing don't happen in isolation -society and structural (in)equity impacts most everything we do.

Even though we are surrounded by technology with amazing power to bring people together, we can easily find ourselves lacking real feelings of connection. We have lost a part of ourselves to a collective trauma we don't know how to heal, and are just doing our best to survive each day. It takes vulnerability to reach for help or even admit change needs to happen, but I am glad you're here taking the first step. You may have even tried talk therapy in the past with mixed results, and it's time to try a different approach.

Our early attachment relationships shape our view of self, and our understanding of how we are to be in relationships with others. Throughout our lives, our surrounding environment and life experiences continue to shape and influence these perceptions of who we are, and of our role in the universe. This becomes our unique personal narrative. Counseling provides an opportunity to explore these narratives, uncover hidden strengths, and find healing for our wounds.

When there is a feeling of disconnect between yourself and the world or with those in your life, it can be lonely and confusing. We alI feel stuck in our life at times around repeating old patterns, managing painful emotions or having critical thoughts of self and others. Maybe you are experiencing depression, life transitions or anxious thoughts. I aim to help clients explore what is causing them distress and identify new ways to overcome those obstacles. If you find yourself engaging in similar patterns and struggling to find effective ways to cope with anxiety or daily stressors, therapy may be a courageous first step to relief.

In my practice, I primarily use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy and bodily movement, EMDR, Harm Reduction and some Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training.
Please Note: NOT Accepting Clients at This Time- - No one is born with an owner’s manual to happiness. It can be a long road of trial and error we all have to figure out through life. Traumatic experiences can act as roadblocks, affecting our ability to thrive. Sometimes we need help through this process. My job as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional is to work as a guide to help clients gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors. Together, we process these experiences through transparent discussion and bodily movement, to explore different avenues of healing.

Offer individual and couples/family therapy addressing issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, existential exploration, LGBTQ support, minority identity support, relationship distress.
I use a nonjudgmental, collaborative approach working with clients. Often therapy includes identifying the root of an issue going on, then exploring options for increasing life satisfaction, and identifying strategies to help maintain that level of satisfaction after therapy ends. Common presenting issues include anxiety and depression, grief, relationship stress, communication struggles, and processing and moving through trauma. I work with both adults and teenagers. I also want to explicitly state that I am open to working with other professionals, as it can be difficult for finding therapy for therapists and other professionals.

NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. When we try to achieve perfect happiness, we inevitably fail, and then we think there must be something wrong with us. Many times, we try to escape our hard feelings, distract ourselves from them, or numb them out, but that doesn’t seem to work for very long. Wellness is not about being happy all the time or never feeling pain again. Wellness is about learning to get better at feeling, period. That feeling may be happiness or sadness, contentment or grief, anger or joy.

I believe that we each already hold the inner wisdom we need to heal ourselves. My role as therapist is to honor that wise voice and work collaboratively with you to create a space for the voice to grow. In my experience, this wisdom is rooted in the body and by working holistically with mind and body we are able to cultivate the connection to our truest, and most at ease, selves. My approach is relational at its core. By building a strong, authentic relationship, we work together to recognize what makes relationships feel hard and what new things we might try to ease them.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
