I specialize in treating trauma in various populations (youth, adolescents, adult).
I have years of experience working with youth, adolescents and their families dealing with a range of issues from juvenile delinquency, substance abuse and trauma. I have developed professionalism and discipline form my time in the U.S. Army, and have extensive experience in education and coaching. I have spent years helping youth academically, athletically and socially. I have worked with the offender populations and have demonstrated a safe and caring space for this marginalized group. In addition, I have worked with victims of abuse, and have created a safe, caring empathetic place for them to process their concerns. My experience has allowed me to develop the unique ability to bridge the gap between, offender/victim, teacher/student, caregiver/child, felon/community and individual/system. If you are in need of culturally competent, evidenced based treatment, with a focus on solutions, and a balanced approach of love and logic, faith and fact then look no further.

Have you been feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Maybe you have discovered that this is due to wanting to please others or due to struggling with setting boundaries. Oftentimes, you think whatever you do is not enough, and this mentality causes you to neglect your own needs. You are striving for connection, but you are finding that neglecting your own needs is creating anxiety, disconnection, and invalidation. Although you might feel more alone than ever, I have worked with many clients like yourself who struggle with anxiety, loneliness, depression, people pleasing, and trauma.

Trained in trauma and grief counseling, I help clients with PTSD, trauma, and grief from death, divorce, suicide, sex abuse, disability, crime, pet loss, and job loss; self-esteem, family/relationship issues, co-dependence, infidelity, and addiction recovery.
Helen Keller wrote, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." For those in emotional pain, life can be a dark and lonely place. When we suffer, we lose touch with our core of strength and well-being. But the resilience of the human heart offers hope for healing. I will provide reassurance through a strong bond of trust and non-judgmental acceptance. In a compassionate and supportive atmosphere, I will help you find your way back to peace and well-being.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
