I specialize in treatment of PTSD/Trauma.
I view psychotherapy as a way to reach intellectual, emotional, and spiritual balance. I combine psychoanalytic understanding with mind-body techniques. I focus on uncovering patterns and barriers that prevent you from reaching your potential and become your true self. Psychotherapy is a process that allows us to gain insight into better understanding of yourself and others, to learn new, more constructive ways of dealing with difficulties, and more enjoyable ways of relating to others and yourself. It is a way to uncover clarity of our past, present, and future, which can lead to wisdom of oneself, life, and the peace of mind.

I currently specialize in trauma work (PTSD), with a look at childhood adverse experiences and its impact on current life stressors.
Have you felt any of the following: not enough, alone in crowds, empty inside, afraid of the world, sad most days, nervous, loss of interest or pleasure, loss of sleep, change in appetite? If you have felt any, some, or all; YOU are not alone. My passion is to partner with you in order to move through feelings and thoughts in a safe space. To help you quiet the inner judge/critic and rise above to a place of inner safety, joy, and love. To support your transformation of the person you were truly meant to be, and for you to believe "I am more than enough".

They confront challenges such as C-PTSD, eating concerns/body image issues, and codependency, with the aim of identifying triggers and managing unwanted behaviors more effectively. Their journey is towards processing past traumas, fostering resilience, and reclaiming their lives. They aspire to convert their pain into strength, nurturing healthier relationships with both themselves and the surrounding world.

The difficulties we have today are often rooted in past life experiences, trauma, and the human relational structures we have lived with. I bring a Jungian background to my explorative work with clients, utilizing dream analysis, the role of symbolism, and mythology/folklore as guides to the unconscious where we often find the roots of these difficulties.

In this present season, Bérengère’s heart is to continue growing in the knowledge and understanding of childhood trauma; she desires to give the “adult child” validation and a space to discover their voice; while empowering them to transform what is shattered, into a work of art.
Bérengère has a deep desire is to give individuals room to share their “broken pieces;” their scars, stories, experiences, perspectives, and struggles. She longs for them to consider: what does beauty look like for them? How can she help them envision a future laced with hope? She aims to walk alongside clients with gentleness and non-judgment, while offering and providing necessary tools and strategies aimed to shift belief systems and behaviors that aim to bring them harm; this is done with her unyielding belief that everyone has a story worthy of being heard, made sense of, and transformed.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
