I work with folks of all backgrounds but have the most experience working with LGBTQIA+ folks and/or BIPOC re: depression, anxiety, trauma and (C)PTSD, relationships, identities, grief, and loneliness.
Emotional distress is too often pathologized when it's a reasonable response to the oppressive systems in which we live. Instead of trying to "fix" you or help you not feel any difficult emotions, I believe that all feelings have information, and we have the power to find out what that information is and choose what to do with it. I would aim to support you in strengthening your capacity to feel difficult feelings, to treat all parts of you with curiosity and compassion, and to determine what information your feelings are holding so that you can feel more connected to yourself and make choices that align with your values.

Right now we all have issues dealing with Covid and perhaps entering into a different ways of being as the Covid threat lessens and society opens up. Things will be different, not as they were before, exactly. This is our chance to use the Covid pause and reevaluate where we are and where we would like to be.

I utilize evidence based techniques, such as EMDR, but always work relationally and holistically with a trauma informed and attachment based lens.
Welcome, I'm glad you're here. Reaching out can be tough especially if you have a tendency to suppress your feelings and/or to "stay strong." I work with individuals who seem to have it all together on the surface, but find themselves feeling overwhelmed by anxious and depressive thoughts and feelings. I also support and empower clients in breaking cycles and healing from harmful experiences in addition to providing insight and guidance through relationship concerns and life transitions. As an AAPI therapist, I am passionate in working with AAPI individuals surrounding concerns unique to the AAPI experience.

I am specialized in the treatment of anxiety, depression, intimacy, low self-esteem, trauma, interpersonal relationships, and self-exploration.
Hello lovely people, life is short and how can we live the best of it? How can you manage work stress and social anxiety? Do you often doubt yourself, feel lonely or sad, and can't find purpose in life? I believe psychotherapy is not only about curing or resolving pain, but also increasing awareness and understanding and accepting the full range of human emotion. It’s important to feel our different emotions and learn how to express ourselves fully. The beauty of our work together is finding your strengths and having an "aha moment" during our therapeutic process.

I utilize a variety of techniques and therapeutic approaches (always trauma-informed) and am trained in Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS).
You are looking to better understand how your intersecting identities (racial, gender, sexuality, etc) & oppressive systems (racism, patriarchy, capitalism, etc) impact your daily lived experiences. You want to, in a safe space, heal and address traumas that stayed with you. You are interested in learning what narratives are limiting your growth, and in replacing them with liberating, nurturing beliefs about yourself. I work closely with members from the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other oppressed communities. I have extensive experience supporting folks working through cultural, generational, and other differences/gaps with loved ones.

My clinical work is grounded in relationally oriented psychodynamic therapy, DBT, Prolonged Exposure Trauma Therapy (PE), CBT, mindfulness and attachment based approaches.
Change is hard. Most people don’t like change. Some say it’s human nature. That may be true. At the same time, doing hard things can be incredibly rewarding and worthwhile. It can reward you with improved relationships with your loved ones and a better understanding of yourself. It can relieve you of the pain from a difficult past. It can help you better manage a challenging environment or life transition. You are not alone. Help is here.

My clients are open-minded, creative individuals addressing issues related to relationships (including addictive and codependent), sexuality, trauma (including religious trauma), multiracial identity, anxiety, spirituality, and self-esteem.
Finding the right therapist can feel daunting. I encourage you to trust your intuition and find someone with whom you truly resonate. I work from a relational perspective which means the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of a successful therapy experience and an integral part of the entire process. I believe that spiraling toward health is everyone's natural state of being. Incorporating body, mind, and spirit, I work together with clients to transform and transcend blocks that stand in the way of actualizing their ultimate potentials.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
