These approaches are highly effective in treating anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, OCD, relationship issues, and low self-esteem.
I'm a dedicated psychotherapist with an extensive and diverse background, spanning private practice, schools, college clinics, foster care, and hospitals, including acute care. With a passion for treating individuals of all ages, I specialize in harnessing the power of evidence-based therapies to create long-lasting positive change, focusing on the core of issues, rather than surface change. I take pride in fostering a safe, warm, and compassionate environment that embraces the unique perspectives of clients from diverse backgrounds. Even the most resistant patients find themselves engaged in the therapeutic process under my care.

Whether I am working with a child or an adult, my primary goal is to help to create a safe space for them to identify, explore and manage the emotions and behaviors that are impeding their potential for living a healthier and happy life. I have extensive training and experience working with children and adults who have experienced trauma. Though often feeling depleted and unrecognized, I have seen, untapped, and helped to recover incredible strengths in my clients. Much of my work begins with identifying and supporting those strengths in an effort to overcome and heal from the issues that are creating challenges in their lives.

I have extensive experience in the treatment of trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression.
Ultimately, I believe that we are all simply human, striving to live the best life we can live in a beautiful but challenging world. I practice with this mindset, and the belief in our innate ability to heal ourselves with the right guidance. My therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, and client centered. I believe that my client's are the experts in their own lives and that they alone hold the answers within. It can be difficult to find this path, and to learn how to get out of our own way... but with the right support, the possibilities are endless.

My greatest passion is sitting with individuals as they become enlightened, unburdened & encouraged through the power of talk therapy. I consider it a privilege when anyone shares their life challenges with me in pursuit of support and guidance. External conditions may not change but through counseling, one's perspective and responses can change, leading to improved mental health. Struggles & pressures in life do not have to dictate or determine your identity or emotions but they can be used to produce growth and realization of personal strengths & potentials as we all have the ability to change. Citas en Español están disponible.

What would it look like to move on from what's heavy on your heart and mind? What if you could be yourself and share whatever you want? You deserve a voice and to get "unstuck". I can help you figure out why you are having difficulty with letting go of some things and why you repeat patterns that are not working for you. I can help you move towards what you think or know you want/need. Your views will be respected and heard. I believe in offering HOPE: Honesty, Openness, Peace, & Empathy in therapy. Know that you choices and views are welcomed without judgment or criticism. So how can I make your journey better today?

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
