I have particular interest in working with LGBTQ+ people; immigrants; children of immigrants; neurodivergent people; and survivors of childhood trauma.
Do you have trouble figuring out what you truly want in life, or how to get it? Do you struggle to understand why you act, speak, or feel as you do? Do you fear that you may not always make good decisions? Maybe you are often overwhelmed by strong emotions—or maybe you have a difficult time feeling anything at all. Maybe it seems like there is something essential missing from your life: intimacy, confidence, vitality, motivation, self-compassion, growth, peace. Maybe you have lost touch with who you really are, or maybe you want to know yourself more deeply. Therapy can help.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious? At times life can deal us a difficult hand, and these events can change the way we see ourselves and the world. We can be left feeling lost and angry, and we might struggle with depression and anxiety that feels completely out of control. These events can cause us to feel isolated and alone, and it can be difficult to ask for help. The process of therapy can create a safe space for you to reconnect and heal. Together we can create your path toward healing and empowerment. As a licensed therapist, I have experience with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction.

I have a flexible approach designed to strengthen coping skills and to foster resilience. My work involves both careful listening and active collaboration, with a focus on each person's unique history.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. ~Maya Angelou Too often we walk through life fearful of telling our real story. But when we tell our story we free ourselves from unhealed wounds. Telling our story helps us to find our strength and recognize our resiliency through difficult times. Emotional well-being is one of the most important parts of an individual's life. Unfortunately it is a part of life that we often forget to take care of. We all deserve to enjoy the lives we live. You are worthy of a life you can enjoy!

I offer individual psychotherapy for adults with a focus on trauma healing and treatment. I also support people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, and other stressors. I practice through a social justice lens. I believe that our experiences can only be understood within the political and social contexts in which we live. As part of our therapy, we will explore how social systems and structural oppression have impacted your beliefs about yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.

As such, I treat trauma, anxiety, grief, negative self-image, and a wide range of challenges that show up in the form of emotional suffering.
Our brains are programmed to avoid pain at all costs so when we’re hurting emotionally – or feeling any negative emotion really - we naturally try to escape the discomfort. We use many strategies to avoid emotional pain – numbing with food or substances, over-investing in work, procrastinating, isolating... Our escape strategies are endless and short term, they can help us feel a little better. The problem is that these strategies are not very sustainable; over time they drain our lives and vitality.

I work relationally and experientially, from an attachment-based, emotion-focused and trauma-informed lens, which supports the development of safety and connection in the space I share with clients.
You know that feeling of disconnection between your head and your heart? When you're struggling and know that the feedback you're getting from trusted loved ones is logical, but for some reason it just isn't making you feel better? If you could just "think" or "do" your way out of pain, you probably wouldn't be here. Emotions always show up for good reason - even when they don't seem to fit. God created the spectrum of emotions to be felt, seen, heard, and understood. When we don't have a safe place to explore them, they get ignored, buried, stuck, and confusing, and they can no longer do their job. This creates disconnection.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, specializing in trauma-focused therapy.
Life’s challenges can alter our perception of ourselves, others, and the world we live in. We can lose sight of our strengths and abilities and we often put others needs before our own. When we disconnect from our needs and desires, we in turn feel disconnected from ourselves and others. Through therapy, we can learn to reconnect to the parts of ourselves we have neglected and learn to prioritize our needs and wants. I aim to provide a warm and non-judgmental space that allows for growth as well as relief from the burdens you are carrying each day.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
