If you are looking for a therapist, you may be feeling hurt, lost, or stuck and aren't quite sure what will help. When our most important connections are ruptured through stress, trauma, and broken relationships, life becomes overwhelming, unmanageable and isolated. Finding a therapist who will listen with intention and compassion can help you feel understood and more connected to yourself and your world. I use a relational-style focused on increasing your awareness and insight so that you feel empowered to move forward.

You no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as; anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

I have completed specific training to support clients who suffer from anxiety, dissociation and PTSD.
I believe in the transformative power of understanding one's emotional responses in order to create lasting and meaningful change. I hope to provide my clients with a foundation of knowledge to help them understand the mechanisms behind their responses and how, with time and intention, they can be changed. I pride myself on my communication skills and seek to provide objective and relatable feedback that clients find easy to understand and implement. Because of this, I find I work well with clients who value learning as a catalyst for change.

It is my belief that much of our pain and suffering comes from struggles within interpersonal relationships. Because of this, therapy can be an incredibly powerful tool to experience a different kind of relationship; one that is full of compassion instead of judgment, support instead of contempt, designed to empower instead of disenfranchise. I specialize in trauma, phase of life concerns, anxiety, and depression. It is important to me that we fit as a team, and I encourage conversations that improve safety and trust within our relationship.

You're ready to start feeling better and are interested in a holistic approach embracing: forgiveness, self esteem, trauma, anxiety, depression, co-dependency, loneliness and learning to tap into your inner resilience.
No matter how hard you try to move forward, you feel like your taking one step back. You’re a high performer with perfectionism tendencies and always put on a smile, which helps you forget your pain. You feel you will never be fully happy and never be able to fully enjoy life how others do, because of your many losses, attributing to your decreased self esteem. You may keep friends and family at a distance, to protect yourself from yet another inevitable loss. You may have stopped exercising and taking care of yourself the way you used to, since it takes too much work and you're just surviving at the end of another long day.

Not every therapist is trauma-informed and even fewer are neurodiverse.
Have you ever found yourself unable to feel better, despite past attempts to think your way out and move forward? Like a cycle you can't escape? Is it sometimes hard to "human"- to socialize, get yourself to focus, to navigate sensory overwhelm, or even to communicate to others? Maybe you've seen therapists in the past who seemed to be puzzled by you or not on your wavelength so you felt stuck. Are you looking to get to the root of these challenges and heal them for good instead of chronically coping just to get by? Do you need to make a change, but don't want to simply talk about your feelings? The good news is everyone can heal.

By providing an trauma-informed mind-body approach to healing, we will focus on reconnecting with your sense of belonging internally and in your everyday life.
You’ve spent most of your life catering to everyone else’s needs. You’ve been disguising yourself so long to be what other people need, you’re unsure of who you are. You’ve begun to recognize the pattern of not saying “no” and ignoring your needs to gain acceptance from others. Yet this only leaves you feeling overwhelmed and insignificant. You want to have deep, meaningful, and authentic relationships, but the fear of setting boundaries prevents you from doing so–leaving you in a shame spiral. Underneath the shame, you’re deeply afraid of being rejected and alone. You’re done being stuck, and you're ready to stop the cycle.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
