We all face difficult times in life but when it becomes harder to face life's challenges, depression or anxiety may be a factor. I view therapy as not only an opportunity to learn techniques to manage and cope with symptoms of depression and anxiety, but also as a journey of self exploration, awareness/understanding, and growth. While we can't change the past, we CAN heal contributing factors to depression/anxiety, such as family/relationship problems, trauma/abuse, substance abuse, codependency, and grief. My style is empathetic and supportive, providing a non-judgmental atmosphere for personal growth and change.

I work best with those looking for a creative, slow and steady approach to recovery from long-term trauma; those looking for a strengths-based approach to managing adult ADHD, depression and social anxiety; and those struggling to navigate conflicting cultural or religious identities.
Hi, thanks for reading! I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist and Art Therapist with four years of experience. I got my start in my home country of Lebanon, volunteering with art therapy groups for children exposed to war and domestic violence. I believe in "diving deep" into patterns and dynamics at play within your relationship with yourself and others, and love working with couples and families to build healthy communication and understanding beyond the individual level. Feel free to ask about how art therapy can help you express and explore in fresh and unexpected ways.

Trauma based issues relating to children and families including grief and loss; human trafficking; substance abuse; families struggling with issues surrounding incarceration and domestic violence are only a few.
Mistakes don't make you a bad person. They make you human. Hurt and pain are real, but they have no right to immobilize you. Doubt and confusion cloud your judgment, and steal your ability to make sound decisions. Guilt and shame will tell you there is no reason to try. But I assure you that for every problem there is a solution. I would like to assist you in successfully getting through your journey to wholeness and completeness. I am a Christian Counselor and a Clinical Social Worker, licensed at the Master's level in individual and group counseling.

Most of us experience frustration and some degree of disorder in our daily lives. However, what we think about the way we feel will impact the behaviors we engage in and the choices we make. Going through our days feeling overwhelmed and never understood is a choice we make, which for us becomes acceptable when we think too much of what other's will think about us. Can I tell you that this time it is alright to think of yourself first? I counsel with individuals or couples seeking to improve overall mental health well-being and/or strengthen relationships.

Sometimes feelings from past trauma and current self worth can become blurred and it takes processing those experiences and the emotions that come with them to finally feel good about yourself.
Have you walked a difficult path in your lifetime? Maybe your life right now just feels exhausting. Do past experiences make feeling good about who you are today difficult? Do you struggle with down or worrisome days and feel misunderstood? Do you feel like you have goals but feel unsure as to how to reach them? Maybe you just want to talk to someone that you feel finally understands what it is like to walk in your shoes.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
