Among my areas of expertise are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma, depression, anxiety, parenting, relational, and marital issues.
We all struggle at times to see our inner strengths and capabilities due to the life experiences which have shaped us. I work in the belief that we each have everything we need to achieve a fulfilled and successful life already present within us; sometimes we just need a little help accessing it. Using a multi-modality approach I encourage my clients to work in the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring us to self awareness, acceptance, and lasting change.

The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are -Joseph Campbell. Together, we can really hone in on what it is you are wanting for yourself and finding a path forward, that best suites you. Often, the work is getting back in touch with your Self in a deeper way—like re-calibrating your inner compass. My understanding of counseling comes from holistic, somatic and trauma-informed approaches that incorporate mind, body, and soul such as Somatic Experiencing, Jungian, IFS, transpersonal, mindfulness and social justice oriented. Check out my website blog to learn more details about how I work

I have great experience working with those that are feeling suicidal for a variety of reasons and those that have gone through many types of trauma.
I’ve learned a lot in community mental health, working with individuals that are depressed, anxious, suicidal. Many causes are external, either through relationships or past events, but some are internal, through biology and self-concept. I hope to help people discover themselves and how to accept themselves for who they are. I’m available Mondays and Wednesdays by telehealth and Tuesdays in person.

I've trained in Level One of the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy and Sensorimotor Processing for Trauma, as well as Indigenous Focusing oriented Therapy for Complex Trauma.
Over the course of our lives, we learn effective responses to difficult life events and systemic ways of being in society. Sometimes, these core beliefs and skills become 'dysfunctional' and block us from experiencing our best and unique selves later in life. I help individuals, couples and families to work through these, in order to access, experience and express their own inner wisdom and joy. In a safe and comfortable space, people feel seen and heard, they heal and grow strong and experience joy.

I specialize in supporting healthcare professionals, nurses, teachers and students with anxiety or depression who are struggling in their career, education or relationships. Many feel stuck, burnt out, angry, and overwhelmed. The chronic stress and compassion fatigue make it hard for them to empathize with patients, students and administrators. Some may prefer to be alone, even though it leads to ruminating over traumatic work experiences and substance use. My clients have demanding jobs, are highly trained and accustomed to solving problems. However, no one is immune to the long-term effects of stress and trauma.

Let’s be honest. People don't care what you know until they know that you care. I have been in your position before. Shuffling through profiles with uncertainty of if I would finally find someone who understands and can help. My empathy derives from being where you are before. We all face stumbling blocks in life. Noticing unhealthy relationship patterns? Interested in coping skills and boundary setting? Have you experienced trauma? Had difficulties moving forward due to grief/loss? Together, we can process concerns and meet realistic goals. There is no time better than now to become a better version of yourself.

This constant anxiety, followed by crippling bouts of depression, is preventing you from living your life. Even on good days, your negative self-talk beats you into a sleepy paralysis. Everyone can be hard on themselves, but your mind has become downright violent. It’s exhausting trying to anticipate when it will strike next. You can’t trust your own thoughts. It’s obvious that your painful past isn’t going away on its own. It takes all you’ve got to get through the day. And most days it takes more than that. Stuck in a vicious cycle with no end in sight, you know you can’t handle this alone anymore. But what choice do you have?

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
