I have advanced training in trauma and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Are you looking to understand more about yourself? Maybe I can help. I have had the pleasure of interacting with and learning from clients with diverse backgrounds. My lived experience as an immigrant gives me first-hand experience with grief, loss, and being an outsider. My clinical experience includes working in a hospital setting, a refugee resettlement agency, and a college. While I have experience working with a variety of issues, I take a special interest in working with young adults, neurodivergence, trauma, family-of-origin issues, and multicultural experiences.

I am specialized in trauma, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, sexual health, and couples.
Life is hard. So many demands from so many places all coming towards you at once. It is too much pressure. You don't have to do it all, and certainly not alone. When feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, therapy can provide a space to have time to focus on you: to be heard, to get feedback, and to process through the hard stuff that's going on in your life. Let's work on untangling all of that, so you can have more freedom to focus on the stuff that brings you joy.

I offer compassionate, incarnational, attachment-based, trauma-informed care, with training and experience in a broad range of interventions tailored to the holistic needs of each client (mind/body/spirit/relationships); whether seeking practical solutions for well-defined issues or deep explorations of the inner life (see modalities below).
Inasmuch as we all face suffering in various forms throughout our lives, the good news is that there is hope for healing, and we don't have to go it alone. If you are experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, marital, relationship, and/or parenting issues, the effects of trauma, loneliness, addictive/compulsive behaviors, are struggling with a life transition or with pastoral/leadership challenges, are desiring support in your spiritual journey, or perhaps are simply unsure of where to turn, I would be grateful for the opportunity to journey with you toward the abundant life you were created for in Christ (Jn 10:10).

I offer telehealth & in-person counseling services to people with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, relationship problems, and self-esteem issues.
Life can be hard. It can be even more difficult to ask for help in managing life’s daily struggles. I believe that anybody can benefit from participating in therapy, regardless of what life experiences you have had. Whether you feel like your problems are large or small, they are equally as valid and deserving of assistance in helping resolve them. I help people uncover what might be getting in the way of authentic and meaningful living. No matter what your story might hold, you deserve to feel like yourself again.

I specialize in trauma, adoption, addictions, attachment, depression, anxiety, and faith/spirituality.
Hey there! My name is Alex. Life can be a tricky journey, sometimes it is full of excitement and fun, and other times it can really be tough. I don't believe we were created to walk this life alone, especially through those difficult moments. That's where therapy comes in. To be honest with you, I don't have the power to change you and that is not my goal. My job as a therapist is to come alongside you and help you rediscover yourself and your potential. With a greater understanding of who you are and where you have been, comes the opportunity for change to create a new normal.

Reaching out for help can sometimes be the hardest part. Many of us function under the idea we should be able to figure it out on our own. But unfortunately that’s just not always true. We often build walls and create patterns just to survive. That’s the truth of it all, you’re a survivor because you’re here. My goal is to help my clients understand all parts of themselves and uncover what parts may be holding them back; while learning tools to help break these disruptive cycles. There are no bad parts, and you (or your teen) aren’t broken. I’d love to help, feel free to reach out whenever you’re ready.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
