The healing of inner trauma is key, and I see myself as a catalyst, so that can happen for you.
Do you feel that you are “not connecting” with life? Are you experiencing depression or anxiety? Do the same patterns keep happening over and over in your life? Are you ready to transform your life, by addressing root causes, and move more quickly than traditional therapy? Would you like to create the inner freedom in your life that will allow you to create the life you desire, and fulfill your calling? Would you like to decrease stress, and enhance your wellness on a body/mind/spirit level? Change is possible to overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma. I will work with you to help clear patterns that are holding you back.

As a therapy client myself, I can tell you it takes courage to find a therapist. Life is not neat and tidy. We all need help. Not judgement, not lectures, not hearing people say ‘learn to cope.’ Healing is not a linear journey, it’s a process. I can be your partner in that process. You are the expert of your life! I’m a sounding board to help you find the solutions within! This is the case regardless of whether are dealing with depression, anxiety, communication issues, trauma, or grief.

I specialize in trauma recovery, stress management, mood disorders, short term problem solving, grief and loss, personality disorders, and learning disabilities.
"I am a firm believer in finding balance between feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Sometimes what we are dealing with is simply present day stress, needing a safe environment to process and get feedback. Other times events from our past dictate our reactions to today's experiences. This leads to giving our power away and continuing to suffer. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as other approaches when indicated, always focusing on the client's goals. I am focused on respectful approaches to teaching tools that allow each client's efforts to result in positive impacts throughout their lives."

Often, counseling focuses on the symptoms of emotional struggles and never addresses the root causes. My deep interest in people, problems, and processes has allowed me to recognize the complex patterns of individuals, life experiences, family, trauma, relationships and how these have influenced the way clients see themselves and the world around them. With grace, understanding, and support, I seek to help clients understand how their past has shaped them, discover how ensnaring behaviors began (and continue) and then to restore dignity, well-being, and relationships.

Therapy is unique to every person. My practice is about being there with you and offering positive regard for you and the work you are doing, and developing a space that is safe for you to explore and heal wounds. I also supervision for new counselors hoping for an integrative approach to counseling as well as focus on the client and counselor (inquire about fees).

My specialty areas are women's issues, perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, psychological trauma, college student mental health, and anxiety disorders.
There is great strength, courage, and insight in recognizing help is needed and seeking it out. I believe people are born with the natural capacity to heal themselves. My role is to help facilitate that process through support, holding hope, and use of therapeutic interventions. My favorite part of therapy is helping people find their own light, strength, and resiliency. I use a combination of evidence-based approaches to help people examine and modify unbalanced thinking patterns, develop self-awareness and insight, and strengthen their relationships. I respect the impact of cultural differences and incorporate them into treatment.

I specialize in helping folks who experience depression, anxiety, social phobias, personality disorders, PTSD, OCD, and anger management issues.
Hello! I know sometimes the most difficult part of beginning the counseling process is finding a caring and compassionate counselor with whom you can connect. Look no further. Stressors such as financial worries, family, relationship, or work concerns, and chronic pain or illness are just a few struggles that may change behavior and mood. I strive to create a warm, helpful, non-judgmental environment in which you will feel safe, supported, and heard.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
