To me, therapy is a team sport. I'm there to help create a space and relationship where you feel safe exploring the things that are happening in your life. Maybe that thing is identity exploration, depression or anxiety that just won't quit, or figuring out how survive and then thrive after a big trauma. All of this is big stuff. I'm here to help you hold it and find a way through it. I have plenty of tools that I can bring to bear (questions, coping skills training, identifying patterns, and reframing situations), but ultimately, my approach centers around you and what you need to be successful, however you define success.

The majority of my work centers on trauma and recovery, which can look like a lot of things. I work primarily (but not exclusively!) with LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent folks, and those who have experienced addiction. My practice is strongly aligned with fat liberation and HAES (Health at Every Size). I love working with creative folks or those aiming to pursue something hard/worthwhile. I'm also available to work with other white folks who are looking to engage in anti-racist work.

My practice is centered on supporting clients through symptoms of trauma, anxiety, ADHD, relationships of all kinds, sexuality and gender exploration, career development, and sexual wellness.
We all have needs. Sometimes they’re big, complicated needs like a feeling of belonging or sense of purpose. Sometimes needs are more basic like getting enough sleep or feeling safe where we live. Whenever we don’t get a need met, that creates unfinished business - needs that linger around. Too much unfinished business and we become fragmented, unable to effectively deal with our present because we’re so consumed by past needs or too worried about future ones. I help people define and address their needs so they can appreciate the present and embrace the person they’d like to be.

Whether you have specific goals in therapy, or are simply struggling to keep your head above water, therapy can be a space to slow down and allow yourself the opportunity to sit with your experiences and feelings. I love working with queer and trans folks, people exploring their gender and sexuality for the first time, as well as people with Autism and ADHD, and people who are exploring the possibility that they may be neurodivergent. I also enjoy working with people with complex trauma histories, religious trauma, complicated family dynamics, as well as people struggling with anxiety and mood disorders.

I am a Certified Autism Specialist and have training in IFS, DBT, CBT, MBSR, DIR, trauma informed care and enjoy incorporating art of all kinds.
Welcome! I’m so glad you have found your way here. Often we get swept up in the competing demands around us and forgo what we need. We can lose ourselves without even realizing it or maybe we never even had the chance in the first place. Before we know it, we are stuck thinking, "Why can’t I seem to do what’s most important to me? What is most important to me anyway?" My hope is that together we can find the way through to heal and create a life you want to live. I think of my role as a guide offering a new perspective. A light in the dark. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and grief.

Do you feel overwhelmed by day-to-day living? Is there something weighing heavily on your mind that is affecting your ability to function as well as you want to? Being able to talk about those feelings with someone can be a huge relief. I believe that establishing a good relationship between the therapist and the client is critical to the healing process. Using a non-judgmental approach, I work with my clients to explore and identify what is the root cause of the distress and together, we set goals for solutions to managing or overcoming the source of the issue.

Each stage of life brings different challenges that test our ability to adapt, but our need for support to bolster ourselves during these times remains the same. Whether you are struggling to establish a new normal in the face of shifting life circumstances, coping with a long-standing physical or mental illness, feeling the strain of caring for a loved one with an illness or a disability, or simply feeling blocked on your path to fulfillment, you deserve a space dedicated to your needs. I strive to create a space where anyone can feel welcome, and I believe that therapy is a pursuit from which everyone could derive a benefit.

I’m passionate about helping clients navigate gender identity, disability, activist burnout, eco-anxiety/climate grief, and the effects of complex trauma and overwhelming emotions.
As a neurodiverse queer transgender woman and a survivor, I know how hard it can be to seek desperately needed help, only to be made unwelcome by the very professionals we trust to provide that help. I always strive to meet my clients with openness, respect, and compassion. I believe that therapy should provide a safer space to explore your values and strengths, gain insight into your struggles, and learn new skills for healing, transformation, and liberation.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
