Are you feeling like your life is spiraling out of control? If so, you may be struggling with sexual or porn addiction. Or perhaps you suspect your partner may be struggling with these issues or he has just exposed to you the truth about his behaviors?

You may feel like you’re the only one experiencing sexual challenges in your relationship, but difficulties like low desire, painful sex, or premature ejaculation are more common than you think. If you’ve been afraid to talk about your sexual challenges, you probably feel alone, overwhelmed, and unsure about what to do. If you’re in a relationship, you and your partner may have stopped talking about sex, deepening the disconnection and feelings of loneliness and shame. Fortunately, there is a way out of this negative cycle, and you can create the sex life and relationship you desire.

I am passionate about helping others learn and leverage their strengths and increase self-esteem. I enjoy working with clients who have ADHD or neurodiverse; have difficulty with regulating emotions and or are looking to grow their toolbox of coping skills; are sober-curious/struggling with chemical dependency (including alcohol and marijuana use) or are active in maintaining long-term recovery and/or are wondering how to cultivate better work/life balance (which may include learning how to advocate for workplace accommodations, taking time out to just BE and schedule recharge time into hectic days).

The challenges of early childhood are sometimes overlooked. Common, age appropriate behaviors could be quite difficult to deal with. Moreover, when a child presents highly disruptive and even destructive behaviors, parents may experience helplessness, anxiety and even shame. Loving and caring parents may try to do all the right things and a child might still show signs of struggle. Managing difficult behaviors could become like a second job and increase levels of distress in the family. I utilize Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to help children and parents to enjoy their time together.

As children, we are learning from interactions with our parents who we are and how to fit into the world around us. After we leave home, we become our own parents as we continue to learn about ourselves and how to find our own place in life. And when we have families of our own, we are now parents both for our children and for ourselves, as we continue to understand more about who we are. I provide a warm, empathic and accepting environment where you can explore your current life challenges, as well as address past issues that impact your everyday life.

My patients often have attained success in some elements of their lives, and struggling with other. They wish to reach the feeling that they are successfully utilizing their potential. Regardless of externally observed levels of success, these patient are besieged by feeling that something is lacking. They wish to reach the internal feeling of success, calm and being content. Some of these feelings are related to self-doubt, self-criticism and, or remnants of coping mechanism that were established at young age to deal with shame, pain, or abandonment (real or imagined). This group is to help you dedicate more energy to life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
