I help individuals navigate their life and heal from trauma using trauma-informed interventions like Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and attachment-based tools.
Hi, I’m Lindsay, a queer relationship and trauma therapist. Life's hard sometimes. It's an oversimplified statement, but sometimes simplicity feels good in the midst of chaos and mess. Trying to make sense of family, relationships, medical care, and work environments in a heterosexist world is exhausting. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, haunted by the past, or just unsure of how to show up for your partner or for yourself, then you’re in the right place.

I provide exposure-focused therapy for adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety due to OCD, PTSD, school/social phobias, or other distressing factors (change of country, employment, family, etc.
My practice draws upon the concept of the lotus flower, which blooms out of muddy water. Although life brings unexpected difficulties and challenging experiences, I believe any individual can grow and develop practical skills to manage their mental health. Everyone is capable of change and growth, no matter their past or current circumstances. My desire is to help each client heal, grow, and learn skills to manage their wellbeing.

My offerings, including expressive arts, canine assisted interventions, dialectic and cognitive behavioral therapy, are always trauma informed and person centered.
Negative experiences shape how we think about ourselves, but they don't have to define us forever. We can learn new ways of relating to ourselves and the people around us via a variety of therapeutic modalities. With a therapist who can hold space for you with compassion and wisdom, you can overcome obstacles and cultivate resilient wellbeing. I might be helpful to you if: You know what it is like to feel held back from life, but don’t know how to engage; You crave connection and community, but feel uncomfortable reaching out to others; You feel disconnected from your body – you may not recognize there is a disconnect.

In our work together, clients feel more capable of riding their trauma dragons rather than feeling consumed by them, getting to a place where they can say "yeah that’s a part of my story but not the defining part of who I am anymore.
Are you having a past trauma flare-up? Finding yourself using your superpowers to be awesome at work but then annoyed and snapping at your partner? Are you cool, calm, collected for everyone else when they have a problem but not able to ask for what you need? Feeling on edge, body numb, but when you check out the real details of the situation you know you are reacting to old events? Maybe you have even talked about some of this in therapy before and understand what’s happening but you are still flying into over protection mode before you even know it’s happening. I’m here for you.

I specialize in child/adolescent mood and behavior disorders, child/adult trauma, parenting issues, family therapy and child/adult life cycle issues (divorce, grief/loss, life transitions).
I view therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to reach your goal(s). Together we will identify the problem and figure out a solution. I work with both long-term and short-term issues. Sometimes skills and practice are needed to change the current way of doing things, and other times information or deeper self-exploration.

I primarily work with adults experiencing anxiety, anxiety-related disorders, & trauma.
So often our minds torment us by going over and over the same thoughts, memories, or images. In our culture we strive to be so high-functioning that we have no time for self-care and even struggle to get adequate sleep. Without any reprieve, anxiety can make the smallest tasks seem daunting and convince us that we must do it all and do it all perfectly! We find ourselves changing and not being the person we truly know ourselves to be. If you can relate, let’s talk.

I am particularly passionate about supporting people living with substance use concerns, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety—as well as those who are part of the criminal justice system.
Finding yourself in destructive patterns and using unhelpful behaviors to cope can make you feel isolated and alone. Knowing you are different from others and wondering how to navigate everyday situations is exhausting and debilitating. Being neurodivergent in a world built for neurotypical people can lead to depression, anxiety, trauma, burnout, and substance use just to name a few. With the weight of everything all at once you can feel trapped and hopeless. No matter what you are struggling with, you deserve to be fiercely advocated for and supported in a way that honors your unique humanness.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
