Hello, I see you as more than the trauma, the grief or struggle that brings you to therapy. I see you as more than ego or persona; the image we present to the world and I see you as much more than any diagnosis or label. I believe a lot of our distress and suffering comes from the fact that we are alienated from our true selves, we have lost connection to an aware relationship with ourselves. I work well with people who want to become more conscious, more aware, who want to better understand themselves.

I specialize in reducing and eliminating symptoms of: PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, Learning disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Addictions, and Pain.
In my practice I blend together the art and science of psychotherapy with a strong focus on global change. My intention is to help you thrive. I use a comprehensive approach with a strong mind-body focus and integrate psychoanalysis with neuroscience. This helps to interpret properly and work more efficiently toward transforming maladaptive mechanisms that stifle your life. Often I use Neurofeedback, Biofeedback, and Photobiomodulation and work directly and noninvasively with the brain and the nervous system. This helps you self-regulate and embody change quicker, with less distress. In most cases the results are permanent.

I utilize an integrative approach combining elements of CBT, mindfulness, ACT, and narrative therapy, with a trauma focused lens.
Throughout our lives, we are all presented with challenges, whether it be the environment and circumstances we are born into, experiencing a traumatic event or series of traumas, to unexpected stressors and changing roles and identities. If you find yourself stuck and needing support to navigate your way, I would be honored to help guide you through your journey. I am a licensed psychologist in California and work individually with adults of all ages. My style is warm, compassionate, and strengths based, while I can also be direct and challenge you to let go of old ideas and behaviors that may no longer be serving you.

Life can be incredibly painful, and at times we can find ourselves confused, lost, anxious, and seemingly alone. We cannot have a pain-free life, but there are ways of managing the issues in our lives that help us be more present, connected to our values, and fulfilled in that which we do. Whether it is anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or trauma, there are ways to respond to these so that we can move back toward the lives that we want to lead.

I work from a trauma informed lens that includes Attachment Theory, IFS, and psychodynamic principles.
It is a sign of strength and self-awareness to address one's mental well-being. I enjoy working with people who are looking for a shift in their lives. Together we will tend to and grow the parts of you that require care. My style is active, empathic, playful, direct, genuine, and adaptive to meet your needs. I work relationally and I want my clients to know that another human being is in the room so that they are not doing this alone. As your therapist, you will be supported free of judgment, and also challenged. I believe that the authenticity we both bring to our relationship is the catalyst to get you where you want to be.

Now that you have PTSD from drowning in a sea of therapist marketing profiles, I’m here to help! Hit me up if you’re a high conflict couple and you’re fighting too much, or an individual and you’re fighting with (parts of?) yourself (or others?) in your head too much. I’m foundationally "humanistic-existentialist", meaning I join you on your journey with curiosity/authenticity/empathy, and help you become more confidently you through a relational process. But I'm trained in lots of acronyms: Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

One area of specialty is trauma.
My approach to psychotherapy/psychoanalysis is to provide a safe, non-judge mental and trusting environment where you can freely express your feelings. I believe each of us is striving to develop our own unique sense of self. We can do this together by identifying beliefs and behaviors that do not serve you and cultivating ones that do. This becomes a partnership. I am committed to helping you out of the darkness and into the light again. My training offers a wide variety of ways to achieve this task. Together we will follow closely your needs, desires and emotions.

The key to healing trauma such as addiction, anxiety, and/or depression is in our physiology.
Whether you have a diagnosis of mental illness or you are experiencing strange symptoms that no one seems to be able to explain, they may be arising from a traumatic reaction to a past event that you may not even remember. Do you remember the last time you felt peaceful, present, and at ease in your body and mind? Is your brain always running with worry about the future, criticizing yourself about the past, and/or hyper-sensitive about what people think of you? Do you notice how the thoughts in your head affect your body with tension in your muscles, uneasiness in your gut, and a heartbeat that ramps up at the drop of a hat?

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
