I've spent the majority of my career working with survivors of trauma and am always learning the most current modalities for effectively helping clients heal.
You feel stuck. The anxiety and depression are relentless. You can't get the negative thoughts to stop. Your past is a heavy weight you carry with you. You've tried ignoring it and suppressing it, but it's always there. Plagued by anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, insomnia, difficulty trusting others, mood swings, irritability, and avoiding reminders of what happened. Imagine what life could be like, if you could break free from your past- letting go of that heavy weight. No longer being haunted by painful memories of things that happened way back when. Having a more positive outlook on your life, and feeling more at ease.

You think you're handling things, but then somewhere along the way, you've lost your grip. You can't sleep, you can't calm yourself down, and it seems like everyday stress deeply impacts you. You've tried but you can't reason with your thoughts. You know they're dark, or dramatic, or too anxious, but you can't seem to stop the cycle. Maybe it's impacting you internally only. Maybe it's affecting your work. Maybe you're losing friendships or relationships because of the emotions that take over so easily. It's exhausting. Whatever the case, you know it's time for help. Surely somebody knows the way out of this mess.

I'm glad you're here. Navigating life, and especially relationships, can be challenging. In our rapidly changing world, filled with uncertainties and unknowns, it's easy to feel disconnected, hopeless, and stuck. It's natural to slip into a survival mindset, simply trying to make it through each day. Self-understanding serves as the foundational step towards accessing the deeper aspects of oneself and fostering genuine connections. I'm here to provide a safe space where you are seen, heard, and cared for.

I specialize in interpersonal trauma, complex trauma, and the many ways these events can ripple throughout one's life and development.
I work best with patient's who are interested in becoming more self-aware, are inherently motivated for treatment (i.e., not forced), curious about exploring new ways of thinking about their thinking & experiencing emotions, and understanding the intricacies of the machinery operating in their head. I tend to take a technically integrative therapeutic approach, formulating a personalized treatment plan and fostering action - I reject a one-size-fits-all philosophy or provider passivity. Those in need of interpersonal validation through an emotionally corrective relationship will likely find my brand of therapy suits them well!

Trauma, anxiety, and addiction can make you feel stuck. The most important step towards healing is to address the unresolved emotion inside you. Healing requires feelings. Acceptance slowly dissolves pain. When we function from the fear and scarring of our trauma, the cycles continue until we learn how to transmute that energy into love. I apply a Holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual forms of well-being, addressing the “whole” self. Through a holistic framework tailored to your unique needs, the goal is to support you develop a deeper understanding of the self on all these levels.

It can be challenging to find a therapist who gets you and can hold space for what you're dealing with. If you are looking to rediscover your life after surviving incredibly difficult experiences and want a relaxed environment, but a straightforward (no BS) therapist who treats you with compassion and respect, let’s talk. I understand healing can be messy and growth can be uncomfortable, so I blend empathy and genuine curiosity with dark humor and the occasional f-bomb to create a brave space for my clients to work through their most challenging experiences and achieve post-traumatic growth.

Do you find it difficult to articulate how you're feeling but know that something feels like it's missing? Are you having difficulty accessing your passion or connection to life? The meaningful connection you are seeking may in fact be with parts of yourself. Many of us are secretly wrestling with inner complexities and feeling alone in the process, yet we do not have to be. My goal is to partner with you in a deeper relationship with yourself that results in a deeper presence to your life, an awareness of patterns that may no longer be serving you and forming relationships where you are being seen and loved for your authentic self.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
