As an Asian-American DACAmented bilingual/bicultural therapist, my heart lies in supporting members of the AAPI community and other ethnic minorities who have experienced marginalization due to their intersection of identities (ie. spirituality, sexuality, legal status, cultural backgroud). I work with individuals who have experienced religious and relational trauma, attachment wounds, imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, dysfunctional relationships, and repressed sexuality, as a result of internalized cultural and societal messages they were exposed to that have further perpetuated an oppressive narrative around who they are.

I believe our destiny is not created by our history. Far too often we let the script of our past taint the next chapter of our life. Are the chains of grief, trauma, addiction, abuse, betrayal, sadness, fear, anger or self-hatred holding you back? I am curious…… What sparkling moments in your life have you forgotten about? What would life look like if you broke free and left all of the labels behind - even just for a moment? Is there a possibility you could awaken from a nightmare and begin to dream differently? What if the rebirth of creativity was possible? What if hope was renewed and slowly a new story began to form?

Feelings, feelings, feelings. They can be complex painful, rewarding, and sometimes, confusing. Sometimes those feelings and emotions consume us, other times we avoid them either way; they affect us. In this space, I hope to help guide your understanding of what you are experiencing. To acknowledge triggers, and normalize some of your behaviors without excusing them. In all, my goal as a therapist is to create an environment where you feel listened too and important .

I have treated all conditions through the years, including depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and many psychiatric disorders.
Hello, my name is Nancy Rarick, license number is 35274. I have been a licensed therapist for 30 years. I prefer client-centered therapy but utilize many other modalities which benefit my client the most. Currently, I only have a telemedicine practice which enables me to see clients throughout California. My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of my client. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, focused solution therapy, and am trained in EMDR and DBT. Because I am a registered nurse, I am passionate about health and wellness and feel physical well-being is synergistic with good mental health.

Whether you are seeking freedom from worry, healing from complex trauma, or anything in between, I welcome the opportunity to accompany you on your journey towards increased fulfillment and well being.
In my life and in my practice I endeavor to replace assumptions with curiosity, and in this way curiosity drives my therapeutic approach. I want to learn about your unique experiences and perspectives and how those inform your relationships with yourself, others and the world at large. I seek a comprehensive understanding of the issues, past or present that stand between you and the change you seek. I also wish to explore with you how dominant ideas in the world impact the stories you tell yourself about yourself, and if those stories are in alignment with your values and ideals.

Trauma makes a profound impact on one's body, brain, sense of self, and the way one perceives the world.
I specialize in working with trauma survivors. For the past fifteen years, I have been providing therapy to survivors of abusive relationships and intimate-partner violence, sexual abuse, and adult individuals who were molested as children. I am certified in EMDR, an integrative psychotherapy treatment for processing of traumatic memories and adverse experiences and bringing them to an adaptive resolution. I am curious about who my clients are and what they need; I see them as experts of their experiences and I feel honored to be a part of a mutual exploration of their preferred self.

My areas of expertise: trauma and couples.
We often forget that our first experience of the world is a shared one; that by nature we are relational beings. Which is why therapy can be so powerful. My job is to help you move away from the things that no longer work (perhaps never did), and toward a preferred way of being. Our process together is one of discovery & transformation, and honors both what you are and what you are becoming. You and I will collaborate to create an environment that is safe and supportive (I don't do that alone -- only you know what is safe). Through compassion & curiosity, our therapy will find new narratives and make meaning of old ones.

In life, people are sometimes feeling stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed as a result of current life stressors or have been living with long-standing issues. I have often observed that many people don’t remember their inner resources or feel they never have any inner wisdom when they are in challenging situations. I believe that therapeutic process could help people remember their innate resources such as strengths, wisdom, positive emotions, etc.I will support people in improving their lives by gaining personal insights, making healthier choices in difficult times, and allowing for positive change to occur in their lives.

I am a triple-certified trauma specialist (EMDR/Brainspotting/Somatics).
No matter how far you are on your journey, it's likely that there will always be something that's not perfect, or the way you want it to be. When we are hurting (and not present), it's difficult to enjoy life, make decisions, or work through transitions, traumas, painful memories, or experiences. Emotional injuries may lead to difficulties with relationships, self worth, goals, and living to your fullest potential. My name is Isabelle, and I will support you in practicing mindfulness and taking control, rather than "sinking" into painful life situations or memories. I use a variety of effective cutting-edge therapies and tools.

My passion helping those who have experienced trauma reclaim a sense of wholeness after being convinced they were broken.
Have you tried traditional talk therapy and felt like something was missing? Did it seem like you were talking in circles, or reached a plateau? Did it feel too rigid or surface level? Many clients come to me after having done traditional talk therapy and now they want to go deeper. So many issues like codependency, addiction, and persistent anxiety and depression are rooted in subconscious beliefs and patterns rooted in childhood pain. My work is unique because we address your subconscious mind and nervous system, in addition to cognitive process, to help you heal the past in order to move forward.

I am skilled in working with at-risk youth, adults, adolescents, trauma, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders and substance use.
Welcome, my name is Stephanie H. Espinosa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Congratulations on taking the first step towards a better you! Often times, the pressures of life, our core beliefs and societal influences can significantly impact our lives in an adverse way. As a result, we often get stuck in self-destructive cycles and lose hope that our lives can be different. We habitually self-medicate with food, alcohol, drugs, work and/or sex to seek a moment of escape and even happiness.

Finding a therapist can feel dark, and you are looking for some light at the end of the tunnel. My name is Sunshine and I am the therapist that brings personality, vibrance, and radical genuineness to all my sessions. Typically, I help those who have experienced long-standing trauma, those who numbed their pain through substances or self-harm, or people who have experienced racial trauma. Instead of feeling misunderstood, you need a place to be seen authentically. I am the therapist who will hold space for your emotions and motivate you to believe things will improve.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
