Hello, I proud of you for looking into therapy! A little about me, I specialize in couples/family, anxiety disorders, and trauma therapy. Having my own struggles with anxiety helps me to understand how mental health can take a toll on one's life, which sparked my interested in anxiety and trauma care. I think our early experiences, genetic makeup, and outside environment all play a role in our mental health and relationships. I chose this career field because I have a passion for helping people build healthier relationships with others and their own thoughts and feelings.

I approach my work through a trauma lens.
I may be a good fit for you if you find yourself experiencing moments of intense emotion, such as frustration, anger, rage, sadness, emptiness, and overwhelm. You may be misappropriating your intense feelings at your friends/family/significant others and may be at risk of losing important relationships. You might also be struggling to function at work, calling off sick more than you would like. You might also be trying to soothe yourself in ways that ultimately don't fix the problem and might also make you feel worse, guilty, or ashamed.

I am an EMDR certified therapist, and have worked in Residential Hospital settings and Private Practice as a Clinician for several years, and received extensive knowledge in Eating Disorders, Postpartum, Abuse, Depression, Anxiety, Couples, Family Systems, Self- Esteem, Cultural Issues, and Trauma.
There is always hope! Our painful life experiences have a way of making us feeling exhausted and unworthy. We can lose sight of our dreams and our authentic path. Trying something new and opening up seems like the last thing we may want to do, but maybe it is exactly what we need. Spending quality caring time on ourselves with the support of a caring therapist can create healing and movement in our lives. We all need validating safe spaces to remind ourselves how valuable we are. We can't truly give to our loved ones unless we are giving to ourselves.

In times of transitions like getting married, having kids, getting divorced or changing careers, the wounds you thought were dealt with, can unexpectedly resurface. Past trauma (large or small) may have always been in the background unknowingly affecting every decision you ever made. Unresolved trauma can manifest as issues around self-esteem, depression, anxiety, or a pattern of choosing the wrong partner, or a job that makes you feel stuck. Maybe it manifests in the feeling of longing for something you don't have, even when you feel like you have it all.

I specialize in self-esteem issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and communication difficulties.
I deeply believe we all have strengths and the ability to overcome adversity. Life presents us with experiences, challenges and transitions that alter the view we have of ourselves. Sometimes we have the feeling that we’ve tried everything to get better, but instead we keep repeating patterns and behaviors we know hurt us and can hurt those around us.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
