For all clients, I operate from a trauma-focused person-centered theory.
My ideal client is ready for change, excited to break free from cycles that control their life. Wrestling with trauma, anxiety, sexual health concerns and/or pelvic pain, they are excited for a new chapter. They seek authenticity, vulnerability and the ability to advocate for themselves moving forward. They crave a life infused with hope, where their true selves can thrive, free from stigmas. Their motivation stems from a deep-seated belief in their worthiness of profound change. Collaboratively, we set goals to create safety and healing, free from stigma.

I would see mid teens to late twenties. The primary issue would be trauma. Some goals to have would be behavior change and challenging unhelpful thoughts. The idea behind this would be to decrease the impact that the trauma is inflicting by increasing the individuals sense of control over their life.

In addition to the standard therapeutic training, I'm also a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional and utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
You are so incredibly valuable. You deserve a life free from fear, anxiety, and depression. But, like drops of water in a bucket, negative experiences have a way of building up over time. The inability to empty our bucket causes us to feel overwhelmed by our thoughts, emotions and the world around us. Right now, as you read this, I want you to imagine what it might feel like to find freedom and to put down the burdens you're carrying. Imagine what it might be like for your past to no longer control you or for your future to contain hope instead of dread. Come in, let's talk and let an experienced guide point you towards possibility.

At times we need an outside perspective, and maybe just someone to listen to us, when life seems hard or complicated. My counseling style is warm, friendly, and, above all, genuine. I use a holistic/integrative therapy approach; in order to tailor treatment to each client's needs, I tend to pull from various tenets and modalities of evidence-based therapies. I focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and understand the mind-body connection; I am also trained in EMDR for trauma treatment.

Going through traumatic experiences can have a serious impact on one's life. The consequences of trauma can lead to poor functioning & disruption in daily routines, relationships, work, & overall sense of wellbeing. It can lead to difficulties in regulating emotions & coping with stress. Additionally, trauma can impact a person's beliefs about themselves, others, and the world - leading to feelings of blame, shame, guilt, & a loss of trust. Overall, trauma can significantly impair an individual's ability to feel safe, connected, & in control of their life. Does this sound familiar to you? If so, I am here to help & support you.

Bio video on my website...When you pay for therapy, you're expecting something of tangible value. All too often what you get instead is a nice person on a couch and little else. That’s not me. With high energy and humor, I help people recover from sexual addiction; I help couples lost in conflict and hopelessness; and I help parents with teens and young adults. I work with sexual abuse, attachment wounds, and traumas/PTSD of all kinds. I am a Christian, and I approach therapy from a clinical perspective. We can integrate your faith as much as you feel comfortable, or not at all.

I have experiences in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and family problems.
Counseling is beneficial for anybody, even if you just need someone to talk to about stressors. To be honest, life be "life-ing!" Fear is an intense emotion that paralyzes and influences inactivity and sometimes we just get STUCK! We are continuing to become who we are everyday and at times we just are not okay. I'm ready to listen when your ready to share

I give you practical ways to manage impossible stressors, and I use Somatic Experiencing to help you move through the trauma you’ve experienced.
I work with clients who are currently facing major life changes or who have trauma from experiences in their past that are affecting their day to day lives. I am a widow and a single mom, and having walked through hell myself now hold space for others doing the same. The purpose of therapy is to help your nervous system to calm down so that you can move out of the ups and downs of depression and anxiety and into a calmer, more empowered way of living.

With this in mind, I also use many expressive therapies to address, loss, grief and trauma.
The human experience can be challenging at times, but can also be beautiful and meaningful. Learning that both are normal parts of the journey can be empowering and allow one to reach our dreams and goals by overcoming the blocks and pain that keep us from reaching those dreams. We can learn to grow through pain, enjoy moments of pure joy and build community. I am a Licensed Masters Social Work, Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Equine Therapist and Certified Thanatologist along with EMDR training. I have worked with a wide variety of clients over the course of my 23-year career.

I view hurts through the lens of trauma as we all have undergone events in our life we've not processed that were traumatic.
I want to hear your story and help you work through any hurts burdening you. Life is difficult and we have seasons where we need someone to journey with us. I will be a person who will give you unconditional care yet also try to help you broaden how you see your story. A slight shift in perspective can make a great impact on your understanding of a problem and how to work through it. We will be serious and we will laugh together. Keeping one's sense of humor is very beneficial in difficult times. I look forward to meeting you and seeing you grow into the better person you want to become.

I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with symptoms resulting from any type of overwhelming experience or trauma, especially early life trauma and neglect. Through my years of practice, I have seen that it's often true that, while people can experience great healing with talk therapy alone, it doesn't always feel like enough. Over the last 12 years, this has led me to pursue more specialized training in trauma-centered interventions, including Somatic Experiencing and clinical neurofeedback.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
