I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I believe in treating the whole person, and I work closely with other professionals as needed in order to help clients with difficulties in both mind (motivation, depression, stress management, anxiety, learning disabilities) and body (autoimmune disorders, chronic/complex pain, cancer). I am particularly interested in helping clients who are coping with multiple stressors (e.g., relationship problems, career issues, health concerns, trauma). I believe it is essential that each client's treatment strategy is tailored specifically to his or her needs, style of interaction, and ability to work toward specific goals.

My passion is helping others through life's ups and down standing along side them in the journey. I have found through therapeutic sessions a common thread, and that is finding and holding on to hope, and the struggle in learning to truly love yourself. This can come from a number of reasons including past trauma, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, early childhood beliefs, and the list goes on. When an individual is comfortable "being in their own skin" they can move forward into healthy relationships and joy in life beginning to feel true love and hope bringing lifetime contentment.

I specialize in couples therapy and approach all treatment with trauma training and sensitivity.
Saturday availability for couples! Come get some help with communication, connection, and finding solutions to challenges you're facing in your relationship. Relationships are so beautiful, and they can be so hard! I get it - I've been on the other side of the couch and have a thorough appreciation for how vulnerable seeking support for your relationship can feel. That's why the couples I work with get a real person in the room. I want you to feel as supported and comfortable as possible, so I balance guiding folks towards real, attainable change with humor and lightness. Who says couple therapy can't be enjoyable? :)

I've worked with a wide range of issues and have an extensive background in treating those with trauma backgrounds, sexual/relational issues, and addictive struggles.
I always start with where a client is and move through a process of self awareness and discovery that brings about lasting change and newfound joy. While that is not an easy process it is a journey I have found worth taking in my own life and feel honored to take in another's. I do not believe in a "cookie cutter" approach to recovery or self actualization. Each person I work with brings a special "psychological fingerprint" that encompasses both their past and their present life experiences. I look forward to traveling the path with you.

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a therapist intern, a wife, and a mother of one. There are often chapters of our own stories (mine included!) that we wish were different. Trauma can come in many forms, but it is more than possible for you to overcome the hopelessness, setbacks, or pain you have experienced. Regardless of what your story has been, there is hope for resilience, healing, and a transformed life! I am passionate about working with individuals of all ages who are struggling with anxiety, eating disorders, church/ministry hurt, relational issues, and life transitions.

I strive to demystify the complexities of trauma.
You may feel stuck, lost, hopeless, ashamed, alone. The worst thing in the world may have happened to you, recently, or 30 years ago. You may be struggling with addictions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, OCD, hopelessness, disconnection, loneliness, shame, overwhelm, stagnation, or burnout. Whatever it is, you know that you want to experience life differently, but it seems impossible to get there.... and this is where I come in. I approach my work from the lens that our "symptoms" often result from trauma, and that trauma lives in our whole beings - our bodies, brains, nervous systems, breath, and spirit.

There they are again. The feelings of fear, worry, stress, powerlessness and shame. These feelings keep you stuck and make you feel miserable. I’d like to offer my services to you. Relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, and attachment issues are all reasons why men and women seek my services. Additionally, I have treated teenagers and children in the foster care system using expressive therapies. Intially many clients report: “I’m at the end of my rope;” “The same stuff keeps happening to me;” “A part of me just doesn’t feel right.” I've been helping people step out of that story for over twenty years.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
