My experience ranges from co-occurring disorders (mental health and addiction) to trauma (in personal as well as professional settings).
Asking for help can be difficult. Maybe you don't even know what kind of help to ask for. I'm here to help you figure out what you need and put together a plan that feels possible. Therapy is unique to each person and is driven by your individual needs, goals, and what we discover in our work together. Using your pacing and my integrative approach, we will find a customized treatment plan for you. There is no problem too complicated or too challenging that we can't work through together. I encourage you to include partners and family as support if you'd like- the important thing is you don't have to suffer alone anymore.

I have experience working with those in the queer community, those who are neurodivergent, those with chronic illness/pain, and those who are starting to unpack childhood trauma.
“There is no standard normal. Normal is subjective. There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet.” - Matt Haig. So very often, we find ourselves facing the word "should". Who "should" I be, where in life "should" I be, what "should" I be able to do. Whether you are just learning who you are for the first time, or are in a place of transition in your life, the process can be very difficult and can often leave us feeling isolated, alone, misunderstood, and in the need of support.

Accepting New Telehealth Clients - I provide trauma focused therapies for adults and adolescents with a non-judgmental, collaborative and strengths focused approach. This means that it is my highest priority to ensure therapy is a place where you feel equally empowered and cared for. Traumatic experiences rob us of a sense of autonomy and it is my hope to create a place in therapy where you can reconnect and show love towards all parts of yourself.

It is my goal to provide therapeutic care from a trauma-informed and client-centered perspective, specializing in trauma and trained in EMDR.
Entering mental health and/or addictions recovery is a significant life transition, whether you are taking this on for yourself or supporting a loved one. I can offer you support in conjunction with your work in a self-help group, during or following treatment, or even to help you deepen your recovery beyond abstinence and/or medication management. When someone struggles with mental health and/or substance abuse, it can affect their friends and families too (even after they get help and/or when entering recovery). I can help loved ones who are seeking therapy for themselves so they get the support they need.

I specialized in couples work, trauma, grief and loss, and men’s issues.
Our life is a journey. The journey can present us with challenges we are unsure of how to handle. If you have ever been caught in a rainstorm you’ll know you just want to have a safe place to wait it out. Or you could want a safe way to get through the storm faster. Sometimes we just wish we had someone there to be in the storm with us so we knew we weren’t alone. You are not alone. We can experience that storm together. Therapy, just like life is a collaborative process. Together we can address the challenges you face.

You've lost yourself. There was a time when you knew yourself well and felt strong in who you are, but life, relationships, uncertainty, and doubt have crept in and now you're not so sure of yourself anymore. You feel like you're always trying to please others, or making excuses for not being what you think you should be, and you feel like a fraud. Like there are different parts of you showing up for different people, and it's hard to be authentically you. And it's exhausting! Hi, I'm Katie! I love helping women overcome anxiety, depression, grief, heal from trauma, create fulfilling relationships, & live the life you want to live.

Creativity naturally recalls repressed memories to heal embodied core wounds and complexes that perpetuate past trauma.
I am passionate about helping clients heal and transform through an eco-art therapeutic approach that combines art, nature and play. Working and playing in a natural setting, I offer a variety of mediums to encourage growth, both indoors and out. This allows an emergent and imaginative approach to therapy that adapts to fit the unique needs of each individual, couple, family and group. Moving from sand tray to clay, collage to art journaling, clients can walk outdoors on paths that meander past waterways and through old growth forests. With labyrinths, meditative walks and an enormous sound chamber, I offer many creative outlets.

I have experience in addressing anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma and relational conflict.
So often we experience stress, fear, sadness, and other conflicting emotions that lead to the development of dysfunctional, maladaptive behaviors and emotions. These patterns influence our own self-worth and can influence our ability to form relationships with others. I work to foster a safe environment for you to be able to identify and process through your emotions and make changes in the way you cope with those emotions. Creating this clear understanding can help to strengthen your relationship with your inner self, and to better communicate with others to manage relational conflict.

With all clients, I practice from a client-centered, trauma informed, and social justice perspective.
Healing and caring for ourselves is hard work. Sometimes painful, often fulfilling, occasionally tedious, it is a necessary part of being open to the experiences that life has to offer us. Therapy is one way to find support in healing from trauma, managing our health, and discovering and practicing new ways of caring for ourselves. As Audre Lorde wrote, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." This work is important, both individually and collectively, and I am here to help you with it.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
