I enjoy using humor, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, and trauma focused treatments in my practice It is important that you feel comfortable with me and I strive to create the safe space needed to dig deep into the unconscious.
Childhood is the single most important predictor of well being in human development. Many of us have buried memories into our subconscious, the painful and the good. By approaching the issues holistically, we will help you live the life you want. Wellness, in its literal definition means a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit. My role as a therapist is to guide you toward finding that balance and connection to self. We will explore how your thoughts, emotions, body, childhood experiences, relationships, and current environment are contributing to your distress and healing.

I focus on treating trauma because trauma is most often the root of anxiety and depression.
Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed and can’t figure out why? Have you found yourself wondering if there is something wrong with you? Are these feelings making you feel stuck in life and as a result you feel guilty about it? Have you ever wonder how life would be if you felt at peace, in control of your life and relieved because you know that there is nothing wrong with you and your worthy? Can you imagine how would it be to love yourself and be able to mover forward with your life?

In some situations it is long-ago events resurfacing, and in others it's recent trauma.
A main focus of my therapy is joining clients in what they are going through. Therapeutic workbooks are great, but there is a big difference between opening up to a workbook versus opening up to a human being. When we open up to another person we make ourselves vulnerable. That is when true growth begins. I set out to try and help people deal with the core issues, as well as enhance their core strengths. When there is recovery in the core, the symptoms can be dealt with. Our problematic situations and behaviors are but a symptom. Website: jeremyharveymft.com

I am also EMDR trained, which allows me to incorporate trauma work into our sessions together.
Everyone has an inner critic that is demanding, judgmental, and critical of the self. Some have harsher inner critics than others; however, my goal is for my clients to experience less criticism and more curiosity and self-compassion. Self-criticism is debilitating. It can lead to depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, cutting, substance abuse, infidelity and the list goes on. As I work with my clients to develop more self-awareness and self-understanding, they begin to develop more self-compassion and their symptoms begin to dissipate.

Hi, I'm glad you found me. I fuse Zen and Mindfullness techniques with core childhood work to create a unique, powerful healing approach. I understand what it is like to be saddened, anxious, or confused by life's experiences. We can't change our pasts, but we can change our beliefs and feelings about what our pasts meant. I use a unique approach of “explore, process, heal, challenge, reframe,” to work closely with my clients to help them develop awareness of new possibilities to redefine their history, move out of pain, depression, or anxiety, and create a new, healthier, and happier life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
