We all struggle throughout life and I was no exception. Acknowledging the struggle is a huge step towards success along with finding the right therapist. We only know what we were taught and how to react to situations from those who raised us. You deserve to be the best you possible and I am here to help you find that. Let me help you discover new ways to a happy and healthier life. I utilize an attachment framework derived from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT) to help my clients understand how they came to be who they are.

I specialize in supporting you to get relief from stress and past trauma and to discover that you have options and can feel hope and joy again.
“You need to learn to be happy on your own,” "You're too sensitive,” "Stop overthinking." These kinds of judgements and criticisms are incorrect and make you feel worse. How you see your story, and what actions you take in your life as a result, can either create stress, sadness, anger, and inner turmoil; or joy, inspiration, hope, and relaxation. What could someone say to you that would make you feel understood or at peace instead of bad, unworthy, or "crazy," and how can you consistently know those "good" things about you instead of thoughts that make you feel bad? I help my clients find unique, true answers to these questions.

My practice is oriented toward liberation, trauma informed, and collaborative in an effort to cultivate deeper self-trust, agency and mutual respect.
Guided by a relational/narrative approach to therapy with a systems lens, I view clients as emergent beings who come from communities and stories that can enliven or constrict their sense of self, safety, belonging, and freedom. In a society that encourages isolation and disconnection, I have seen the profound healing that can happen when people feel safe enough to be witnessed and explore through relationship. I work with people who struggle with painful pasts or parts of themselves and aim to create a space where people can move into greater relationship with themselves, their values, and desires.

I began my career working with depression, trauma, and addiction recovery and have come to regard the recovery process as a holistic set of tools to be used by anyone looking to make changes in unhealthy patterns and behaviors.
Are you struggling to recognize yourself or the world around you? Perhaps experiences from your past are keeping you tethered in place and you are having trouble moving forward. Maybe you are starting a new chapter in your life after a big transition or life-changing event. Counseling is an excellent place to deep-dive inward, and offers the relief and safety of connection, intention, and a way back to yourself—the free, integrated self you’ve imagined. Counseling can also offer ways to close the uncomfortable gap between your anxious, stressed, current-reality and developing the wholehearted life you desire. Glad you're here!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
