I also work extensively with those individuals who have experienced sexual trauma in helping them to navigate sexual intimacy.
VOTED BEST IN GEORGIA 2021 and 2022! I have been in practice for over 25 years and after all these years I remain as passionate about my chosen profession as I did when I first began; perhaps even more so. Since 1991, I have worked with many individuals helping them to overcome fears, resolve interpersonal conflicts, understand themselves, identify and avoid negative life patterns and overall personal growth. I especially enjoy working with couples in helping them to understand and improve their relationships.

I specialize in working with anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, addictions, women's issues, and trauma.
The decision to enter therapy can be a difficult one for many people. Taking the first steps towards, first, admitting there is a problem, and then reaching out for help takes bravery and courage. It's also a sign that you may be tired of living the way you have been living and you're ready to face the issues that are causing you and your family discomfort. I am here to help you every step of the way. As a seasoned psychotherapist with many years working in the field, I can help you by giving you a formal diagnosis at the time of our first session, educate you of your issue, and teach you better coping skills.

Together we can increase your self-understanding, build resiliency, find meaning, navigate challenges, and facilitate joy and growth. My approach is genuine, down-to-earth, warm, insightful, playful, and compassionate.

Everything might look OK on the outside. But inside, it feels like you're falling apart. You want to be optimistic and fun. You want to be a good partner, friend, daughter, or sister. But everything seems so hard and you just don't feel like yourself. Perhaps it started with a loss - like a tough breakup or a death. Maybe it comes from something deeper in your past - an unresolved trauma or abuse situation that you've never been able to talk about. Perhaps you struggle to find peace with your relationship with food and with your body. You don't have to face your struggles alone. Getting strong is often about getting help.

Have you been in therapy and still feel stuck? Do you feel like you could teach the skills you have learned and understand what is going on but nothing is changing? I work with highly anxious perfectionistic clients who understand their issues logically and can't stop doing but never feel enough. I help clients tap into their bodies and different parts of themselves to find peace and settling. I hold space that this process brings up pain and can suck but is also freeing.

Modern teen-hood for girls is a very difficult time in life, one that needs a specific set of coping skills. The rise in peer pressure, competitive conflicts, and unhealthy social media messages are all likely contributors to a national increase in anxiety, depression and low self-worth in girls. Counseling can help teen girls to improve decision-making, managing stress, and learning coping strategies to better set them up for future success

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
