I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and those looking for support with their trauma symptoms, substance use, relationships, anxiety and depression.
The world can be a complicated, confusing, and really overwhelming place, and we all develop our own ways of coping. Sometimes we reach a point where we realize some of our strategies need to change. I strongly believe that removing the shame and stigma associated with certain coping mechanisms and behaviors is integral to adjusting them. I work with clients to identify, and have compassion for, why they enact certain responses, behaviors, and patterns, and develop new ones that meet their current needs and desires.

This experience includes, but is not limited to mental health and addictions, Complex PTSD, and survivors of trauma and/or Narcissistic abuse.
Whether you are deciding begin therapy or looking to continue, I consider this decision to be a tremendous act of courage. To be in therapy is to admit to yourself and another person that you are tired of your current situation, and you want change.

I work with people healing from trauma. They might experience unresolved grief, unhelpful defense mechanisms, unhealthy attachments, or struggle to feel at home in their bodies. I emphasize improving relationships with yourself and others so you move toward self-love, acceptance, and growth. I also work with clients on relationship issues, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Yes, we all struggle. Just because “it could be worse,” doesn’t make your experience less valid or worthy of support.

Waitlist for new clients
With over 20 years proven experience, I have collaborated with a variety of clients -adults, children, families and the elderly - in improving their personal and professional relationships. By acknowledging our positionality and employing a relational, empathic approach in my practice, clients are able to successfully negotiate relationship issues, and overcome related struggles with depression and trauma. Empowerment is a major focus of our work.

My therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic and trauma informed, and I use elements of AEDP, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Art Therapy as needed.
Welcome. I’m glad you are here and taking an important step toward finding the right therapist. Perhaps you have been facing significant challenges for a while, are unsure how to cope with certain life stressors, or just want to know yourself better. Either way, you do not have to walk this path alone. Our work will focus on your experience and creating ways to navigate the world more effectively. I do this by creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment through listening without judgment and working collaboratively. My therapeutic style is integrative and warm.

My clients include women of color from diverse backgrounds who are struggling with self love, self esteem, colorism, hair stigma, cultural adjustment, religious identity, and intersectionality. Women of color are hit the hardest with race-related stress, and yet they seldom have the proper resources or tools to heal. In my practice, I help clients disrupt the intergenerational trauma that continues impacting them.

Being vulnerable, feeling safe, laughing, and pushing past the distress are just a few of the moments that are shared in the therapeutic relationship journey. I often work with individuals, children, families and couples who feel lost and hopeless after experiencing trauma or feeling stuck by perpetuating issues. At times, experiences that we go through may also lead to anxiety, depression, and feeling lost for how to move forward. I work with individuals to help identify ways to have these "rocks" removed and develop plans that could be accessed outside of our therapy sessions.

Whether it is a specific trauma history or persistent feelings you cannot shake; there is hope.
You’re my ideal client! I want to meet you wherever you are & journey with you to where you want to go. Ever pass people who look impossibly high-functioning/put together - makes you feel like you'll never get there? So many look in a mirror & wonder who’s staring back & how they became who they are now.  To understand you, we first have to understand the story you’ve created from the beginning.  Letting others into dark corners of your life, where hurt hides, can be scary & painful.  But, it’s in those moments where healing happens. My role, in your journey, is to stand beside you, in the darker places, & help you turn on a light

It's easy for you to sense other people's feelings, but sometimes you feel misunderstood. You may overthink things, or you may be so intuitive that you can't tune out the noise of daily life. The gift of being highly sensitive can also come with internal struggles that may be hard for others to understand. My knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral health, coupled with my creative background in yoga and art therapy, allows me to provide support expert to highly sensitive people.

Few things are harder than struggling alone. You might be holding onto pain from your family, friends, or past relationships. Or it could feel like you're stuck inside a traumatic event that chains your life. It might feel like no one understands how deeply sad, intensely angry, or desperately helpless you feel. But you're not alone. Healing from trauma is not just a concept; it is an attainable reality. It would be an honor to be invited on your journey towards healing, reparation and building a life worth living. I believe the goal of therapy is not just to stop the suffering, but to create a sustained life of thriving and joy.

I have expertise working with with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions and perinatal mood presentations.
Some moments of questioning can feel like they awaken endless possibilities, while other moments might feel like they bring us to an abrupt stop. Often times, halting moments are an accumulation of experiences, but the shock of our lives being suddenly paused, limits our ability to process the moments in their totality. I invite you to co-create a space with my that allows you to re-imagine how you confront challenging experiences with the security of knowing you are not alone. I invite you to allow your curiosity to explore the unfamiliar and ask questions that help you discover previously unknown aspects of yourself.

I've worked with individuals dealing with a myriad of issues, including autism spectrum disorder, trauma, neurodiversity, and the nuances of the queer experience.
You know those coping tactics you've been leaning on? They may have done their job until now, and for that, they deserve a thank you. Now, it's time to get to know yourself well enough to find new, healthier ways of dealing with life that fit you better. I grew up immersed in a vibrant and diverse community, which has influenced my approach to therapy. It also instilled in me the importance of listening—really listening—to the stories people share. We tell stories to process pain, and the best way to process is to have a good listener.

I specialize in supporting women of color, immigrants, individuals of all ages experiencing major life transitions, trauma survivors, and perinatal warriors.
In my practice, I provide a safe and inclusive space where you can critically examine your challenges, find strength, and embrace your true potential. My approach is rooted in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based techniques tailored to your specific needs. Therapy is meant to be a relationship where we can say the things we don’t normally say aloud and practice the habits we want to build and use in our daily lives. Our therapeutic relationship is the judgement-free zone in which you can learn and practice how to voice your needs, set boundaries, and own your power in your relationships.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
