As a Licensed Psychotherapist, I am trained to help people of all backgrounds process and heal trauma, grief, and loss, and to better manage stress, anxiety, and depression.
Do you feel stuck? My approach to helping: Choosing to begin therapy and meet a new therapist can be one of the most stressful things a person can do. It is also one of the most courageous! The journey of counseling and therapy is a path of growth. I love working with people who have the courage to engage in therapy and helping them learn, grow, and heal. By becoming more aware of yourself and the people around you, you are able to choose new ways of being and interacting, and feel calmer and more content day to day.

Whether you're experiencing family difficulties, problems with your children, anxiety, depression, trauma, or just everyday stressors, I am here to help.
The key to making changes in your life begins with awareness. Sometimes sorting out what is causing negative emotions, thoughts and behaviors can be challenging on your own. The counseling processes can help you achieve insight into your problems and help you develop the necessary skills to make meaningful change. My goal as your therapist is to bring out the inner strengths you already possess and help you apply them in your everyday life. I believe that the therapeutic process is a collaborative one, and I am dedicated to working alongside you to reach your goals.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual, family, and couples therapy. I am also a 17-year Army veteran and continue to serve in the US Army Reserve. I work primarily with adults, veterans, and first responders. Despite our many differences, we all face challenges and setbacks that can put the brakes on life, and share common goals of moving forward and being better today than yesterday. Whether you are a corporate professional; working two jobs to keep the lights on; or a couple married for 20+ years, we could all use someone to talk to and get a different perspective on life.

In the last 17 years I have specialized in trauma as a psychologist.
I view my role as a therapist as one of helping people to deal with the problems, issues and/or transitions they are facing that are making it difficult to live life to the fullest. If you are feeling depressed or anxious, struggling with problems related to relationships, including divorce and parenting, loss, past or present trauma, work, and/or other issues, the therapeutic relationship can bring help, support, hope, healing, and energy to live your life more fully in the present.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
