I specialize in working with folks who struggle with PTSD, C-PTSD, Grief/Bereavement, Adoption and/or Foster Care, Gender Dysphoria, Transgender issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and issues related to sex/sexuality.
Mental health shouldn’t be a privilege. So much of how we feel in our minds and bodies has to do with the identities we inhabit in the world and how our environments do or do not support us. Counseling is a tool that can be helpful when dealing with the natural anxiety, depression, and grief that can arise as a result of living in a culture that refuses to see you or value you. I work with folks through an anti-oppression and somatic (body-based) lens. As a Non-Binary and Queer therapist, I am passionate about the decolonization of the therapy space. The personal is political.

I have specialized knowledge and experience working with transgender clients, poly clients, and those who are managing chronic illness.
I offer individual, couple, and family therapy. I am a systemic therapist. I believe your community, your family of origin, and the greater world in which you live all impact your situation. My focus is on promoting your strengths to help you achieve your goals. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions, but the common thread that links them is Mindfulness. In my work with couples, I apply Gottman theories to your preferred family structure. I enjoy exploring gender identity and also enjoy working with people to strengthen their relationships with themselves and others who are important in their lives.

Are you feeling not right in your body or as if you don’t belong to the gender you were assigned at birth? Are you afraid to come out to someone you love? Did your partner or spouse tell you he/she/they are transgender and you are left with confusion and fear? Are you a parent of a child who came out to you and identifies as LBGTQIA and you don’t know how to process your feelings or take a deeper look within? Do you use substances and feel stigmatized by being called an “addict” with no hope for support? Do you use substances and are not ready to stop, but want someone to talk to that will accept you where you are at?

I work with heterosexual, queer, questioning, and transgender individuals, couples, partnerships, and families.
People come to therapy when they are seeking support with problems that feel overwhelming, or when they have a sense that they are not living the life they want to live. Perhaps they are ready to step more powerfully into themselves. I work collaboratively with individuals & couples, walking alongside them as they seek new perspectives, helping them to re-examine old beliefs and approaches that may no longer be working. I offer new tools and strategies that can help create greater room for happiness, authenticity and a deeper sense of purpose and meaning.

I work with a variety of people including adults (including geriatric), BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) and LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, Intersex, Asexual/Ally) populations.
My practice is currently full. Issues such a stress, anxiety and depression can be debilitating. You may feel exhausted, irritable, confused, hurt and angry. You may act out your feelings by isolating and distancing yourself from people who care about you. You may find that your work, relationships and friendships suffer as you are suffering. Struggling is difficult and it can feel hard to know where to turn. When you feel exhausted from struggling it can help to talk with someone who can offer support, and work with you to build a path for moving forward towards healing.

I am interested in adult ADHD, trauma, transgender issues and psychosomatic issues (those physical symptoms that seem to have no medical cause).
For 20+ years I have been providing individual psychotherapy. You might be thinking about therapy because you have a sense that something is wrong or something hurts. Sometimes all you know is you have not felt happy for a long time. Perhaps you are experiencing confusion about a relationship or are having anxiety or depression. You have Bipolar Disorder or ADHD and want help beyond medications. Perhaps you are going through a transition such as divorce. You may find yourself up against the "same old problems" at work or home. You may be trying to manage trauma. I can help.
