Tracy Thompson is the owner of the Family Therapy Place and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Tracy specializes in working with Couples and Families of all kinds with inclusivity and safety. Tracy’s training and speciality is with people who have experienced developmental trauma, often due to neglect or abuse. Tracy has a strong belief and training in the experiences of attachment and works with families and couples to rebuild and nurture attachments when they have been broken. Tracy uses a gestalt, experiential approach to relational therapy that is deeply transformative. Tracy works with all ages and stages of development.
All relationships are complicated and complex. Whether working with children or adults, I will listen to their unique experiences and assure them of their value as a person. My work is trauma informed and experiential to assist individuals and families connect deeply and meaningfully to pave the road for long term healing.
My office is located in a beautiful historic home in downtown Grand Rapids. You'll instantly feel comfortable and at home in this warm inviting environment. I see whole families, groups and couples for relational therapy. I also use experience-based relationship methods that allow clients to feel safe to express themselves fully and uniquely as they are.

Equine Assisted Groups for children and adults
I offer groups for children and teens 10-17 as well as adult women. These groups are an experiential therapeutic group that helps clients to process emotional challenges that may be difficulty to navigate through traditional talk therapy. Ongoing groups are offered in the spring, summer and fall: Bridges (ages 10-12), Champions ( ages 13-17), Wise and Wild ( for women with relational conflict)
