Play Therapy increases the likelihood a child will want to come to counseling. There is no pressure and no expectations only time allowing your child to work through tough things in the way that works for them. I offer parent consults to help you know the big picture and understand what's going on in therapy. Play Therapy is an evidence-based approach.

I schedule a time to meet with parents before the child begins therapy. Not only do I want to know about the child and issues bringing them to counseling but I like to let parents know what to expect from play therapy.

For children between ages 4 - 12 years I use Child-Centered Play Therapy. Each child determines for him/herself the direction that he or she wants to go in the process. Child-Centered Play Therapy is a specialty within the specialty of Play Therapy. I use CCPT because it allows the child to have more autonomy in therapy as they process through their emotions and problems.
