Tracy E Ochester, PsyD, RYT, Psychologist in Leawood
I view therapy as a partnership and my style is collaborative, empowering, and straight-forward. I work with clients to develop a greater understanding of how our unique thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behavior affect our ability to relate well with others and function to our highest potential. Then we explore new ways of thinking, relating and behaving that serve to improve satisfaction with relationships and life in general.
One of my specialties is Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which I am certified to teach through the University of California San Diego Center for Mindfulness Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute. Another specialty is psychological assessment through which I can help clarify diagnosis and generate treatment recommendations based on a comprehensive evaluation.
I am a registered yoga teacher with a personal mindfulness practice who enjoys teaching mindfulness to interested clients. Please visit my website at for more information about my practice and services as well as for general mental health information and resources.

Mindful Self Compassion (MSC)

8-week program teaching participants skills needed for greater present moment awareness of personal distress or suffering in order to respond with kindness & wisdom. It is not a therapy or treatment program - rather it is a skills training course. Research is showing that self-compassion is correlated with greater happiness & wellbeing, decreased anxiety & depression, as well as healthier lifestyle habits. Participants learn how to treat themselves more like someone they love, befriending themselves, motivating with encouragement rather than punishment, and coping with difficult emotions with greater calm and ease.
