I specialize in working with individuals around issues of grief and loss (death and non-death losses: divorce, relationship changes, life transitions, estrangement, adoption, chronic and terminal illnesses) and anxiety. Through my many years working with bereaved children, adolescents, and adults, I have learned that we all grieve our losses in our own way and in our own time. In an attempt to create a refuge from the cultural pressure “to move on,” I strive to offer a welcoming, nurturing, and safe space for you to grieve your losses, to find hope and connection, and to discover ways to heal and to grow.
My approach is client-centered, relational, and collaborative and I draw from a variety of treatment modalities, including skills-based therapies, exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. For children, I use art, play, movement, and bibliotherapy.
Death and non-death losses often change family dynamics and roles. Sometimes, a lack of understanding by those closest to us can cause confusion, feelings of aloneness, and even conflict. If needed, our work together can include navigating relationships that have been negatively impacted by your loss.
