Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents
Inspired by the book, Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Clinical Psychologist Lindsay Gibson, this is a virtual therapeutic group for adults. An emotionally immature parent is one who could be present physically, but unable to provide nurturing and validation children need. Qualities of these parents include: tendency to be rigid, resistant to repairing relationships, lack respect for differences and their self esteem depends on child's compliance. Part of how the children adapt is ignoring what they needed in effort to satisfy the unsatisfiable parent. The group will explore with you how these patterns can maladaptively interfere today.
