Tonya studied Human & Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University and after working with children, young adults, refugees, and families for more than a decade, she obtained a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Since then, she's worked in nonprofit leadership serving children, youth, families, and neighborhoods. Tonya currently practices clinical social work as a therapist in private practice as well as in a medical rehabilitation program for people with disabilities.
Tonya approaches therapy with a sincere reverence for every person's unique story, blending curiosity about one's physiology and psychology with a grounded appreciation for the complex systems in which an individual lives, works, and plays.
Tonya views therapy as an intentional setting aside of time, space, and attention to listen to one's life. A space for safely and gently holding one's joys, pain, history, patterns, and desires, with the aim of moving forward in healthier, more fulfilling ways.
